Yes on that MF, but none of the local dealers is willing to do 0.00128 in Houston.

And yes I agree with you on that windshield replacement, and my auto insurance does cover it but the deductible is $500 compared to $800 what the dealer wants for 3 replacements in 3 yrs. So...

I also tried to get a car from dealers out of state but carbon black with bench seat in coffee apparently is not easy to find. And it worked out better for me since I could save some of the tax from my trade-in.

Nonetheless, thanks

Looks great! I was in the same boat here in Houston and had to go with same mf you did. Nonetheless, it was so worth it!

I'm not sure I remember correctly (from last month), but... did the residuals go down by 1% across the board?

Same here. At least the lease cash went up $500.

X7 Build Order

Placed a build order with a dealer last week.

2020 X7 xDrive40i $96425 MSRP
- 11% off MSRP
- $1000 CCA rebate
- 58% residual
- 0.00168 MF
- Monthly payment: $1131

Do you guys think its a good deal? Is it possible to negotiate with dealer on the MF further as the vehicle hasn't been picked up yet?

Are there any "strings" attached with the finance credit for the 2020 models ($2000 for 40i, $3000 for 50i/M50i)? Can it be applied to an ordered vehicle or just one on the lot? Or is the only requirement that you finance through BMW FS?

AFAIK, it applies to all vehicles financed through BMW FS. No matter if ordered or off the lot.

I figured that was the case. Although, when I went to the BMW USA website, I could not find an "Official" web page that listed all of the current credits/rebates. In order to find the credits I mentioned above, I had to read the fine print on a few sample vehicles on the "Current Offers" page. I could not find any mention of the loyalty discount (or military and graduate) credits either when using the search function on the BMW USA site - just "contact dealer for details".

So since "verifiable" knowledge is power when it comes to car pricing negotiations, where can you find official, current finance/lease credit info to use at dealers (so they can't BS you) before you contact a dealer? Some dealer websites post current incentives/credits, which makes referencing the credits easy, but not all post them.

That is a good question.

I obtained my lease-info here:

https://forums.edmunds.com/discussio...-and-prices/p4

although it's not 'official', they are pretty accurate and have no reason to provide wrong info or hide anything.

Edmunds official lease numbers are pretty accurate as far as my research goes!

Ha, speaking about accuracy - If you look at the link, you can see that it's claimed that the lease cash incentive on the M50i would be $3,000 right now.

I thought that was for financing and $1,500 for leasing. Let's see what's accurate.

If it's indeed $3,000 for leasing, I might already lock in the numbers this month for my February delivery.

I believe it's true! I remember posting a loyalty rebate of $1250 and 57% (55% originally) residual for 36/12 on 2020 X7 M50i on this forum on Nov 18 after confirming with 2 dealers in writing, which was not posted anywhere officially, neither in this forum or Edmunds.

I don't think accuracy of the info is really the issue. As the link above indicates (also this forum), there are places on the net where accurate info can be found. It would be great, however, if we could find "official" info to keep the dealers truly honest when negotiating. At least it seems like most dealers will honor the info you use if it is in fact accurate - especially in an age where internet car sales are growing. They want to make the deal after all....

Ouch at your MF rate - 0.00168 = 4.03%. They're giving you a nice discount but making it back up in finance.

Base was 0.00128 / 3.07% if you signed before Jan 6 or 0.00137 / 3.27% from Jan 6 on.

Compared to 0.00128 - that's roughly $58 more per month or $2088 over the term of your lease.

Compared to 0.00137 - it's roughly $45 more per month or $1620 over the term of your lease.

You can definitely renegotiate MF at time of delivery - though you may have to accept the lease program for that month's delivery, hard to say.

Well, the guys at the Edmunds-forum confirmed the $3,000 lease cash on the M50i. Interestingly enough, they also quoted no incentive at all on a 24 month lease on the 40i...

This is all very strange..

So this brings up another question for me regarding ordering a car AND negotiating a final purchase/lease deal.... With incentives, MF's, APR's, etc. changing on a monthly basis, when negotiating the deal, are you locked into the incentives/rates at the time of your order, or can you take advantage of the incentives/rates (if they are better for you) and partially renegotiate at the time of delivery? For example, if BMW offers a better rebate/credit during the month of delivery, I would think the dealer would be willing to alter the deal to give you the better rebate/credit since it means more profit for the dealer....:

Another question... What is the typical deposit requirement (and amount) for an X7? Or does it vary widely from dealer to dealer?

I think you lock in the lease program (MF, residual) at the time of the order and get the lease incentives at the time of the pickup. Others can correct me if I am wrong. My dealer told me it was key to lock in the program in December (and the MSRP discount).

I don’t think there is any deposit requirement. I certainly never put one on any BMWs I ordered.

I don't like to put any deposit but if the dealer insist based on highly optioned or something not mainstream then $500 should be more than enough. Deposits are refundable if you don't take delivery, some dealers may give hard time though.

I had an extensive discussion on another forum in regards to deposits. Many members (especially those in California) made the point that they never had to make a deposit.

I argued that here in Florida, I'm ALWAYS asked to make a deposit so yes, it seems to be a regional thing as well.

When it comes to lease deals, AFAIK, they can be locked in for 60 days when you place your order and at time of delivery, if the deals are better than those locked in, you can take advantage of those instead.

I am surprised there is that much flexibility on the deal/financing part when you order a car between the order placement and delivery. Good for the consumer, but seems like more risk for the dealer.

I am now even more looking forward to my first time car ordering experience and negotiating the deal (I am leaning towards financing right now), hopefully by late Spring or early Summer. Especially since I am eligible for 3 of the 4 main incentives/credits BMW offers. Too bad the finance credit will probably not be as high in the Spring as it is now (Winter) since I assume car sales are generally better in the Spring/Summer as opposed to Fall/Winter.....
