X7m50i versus Alpina XB7 info
My praise of the XB7 rubs a bunch of people wrong but here is some info that will make you go hmmmm. 6 months ago I traded my M50i for a XB7. My M50i had a sticker of 119k and I traded at 19000 miles, 85k is all it would do. My Alpina had a sticker of $150,000. It was fixing to hit 19000 miles so it was time to go. It brought $125,000. So there is real world experience, not something a computer or book says. And as soon as the 2022 is available to order my next one will be ordered!

My 2020 fully loaded X7M50i was $126k, I was offered $108k cash last week. Not selling, but all my vehicles are high cash offers now. My local dealer is beating Vroom cash buy prices. My 2016 low mileage Power Wagon is getting more than its original msrp. It’s a time to sell if you don’t need the vehicle and a horrible time to buy anything. I absolutely adore my X7M50i and it’s spec is higher than anything you can buy for the next few years BUT, if I were to buy a ALPINA, it would be this Dravit/ivory one. It at least has rear entertainment but obviously no night vision, ambient air, etc.. I would also be curious if the sun shade is Alcantara or cloth?? They have two just sitting in the showroom. My local dealer just gave me first crack at a M5CS they ordered. Not big enough but still very attractive.

Used car prices are through the roof.
When we bought the wife's x7 m50i we traded in her x6m50i $96k msrp. The selling price for her x6 was $87k. The dealer offered us $80k trade in. I thought that was very reasonable for having the car for 15 months trading it in at 10,700 miles.

Yes, the used car market is interesting right now. I've got a loaded 2020 X7 M50i minus RES and night vision with 13,000 miles. I was offered 5k off MSRP. But then what? Love this car, so it's not going anywhere.

My XB7 does, as would an X7 with the "Full" merino option (only available in oyster/blue IIRC).

3QUOTE=Jefflikescars;27738709]Curious to hear your thoughts on the main differences between the Alpina and the M50i?[/QUOTE]
2 minutes of seat time is all it takes to feel the difference! The suspension feels like your in a totally different vehicle nor one with some changes. Literally equal to getting out of a X3 and into a X7. I know on paper the power difference don’t look like much but in real life it’s night and day! In my M50i I used full throttle daily but the XB7 very seldom. The trans feels just as different, never cared for how the M50 shifted but the alpina tune straightened it right out. Last but certainly not least, the start stop BS everybody hates is not on a XB7. I guess the short answer was, EVERYTHING! |

X7 M50i and XB7 share the same base twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8, but ALPINA adds larger twin-scroll turbos, additional cooling, and a freer-flowing exhaust with switchable acoustic flaps. Output shoots up to 612 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque available from 2000 rpm to 5000 rpm. The ZF 8HP76 transmission, with Alpina Switch-Tronic paddle shifters on the steering wheel, has been specifically designed to deal with the V-8's high torque and is equipped with an aluminum transmission oil sump. And, just like the standard X7, the XB7 benefits from Integral Active Steering, i.e. rear-wheel steering. XB7 uses the two-axle air suspension on the X7 but with Alpina-specific dampers and addition ALPINA suspension enhancements including use of BMW's active anti-roll bars (ARS). You buy BMW ///M for a sharper, pure driving experience and you buy the ALPINA for a more luxurious, more premium go-fast experience - not as hardcore nor as razor sharp as M.

I’ve seen a few poorly optioned XB7s at dealerships. No full leather to save $1,500 is nonsense. Not much difference between a $145k and $155k vehicle so why not get all the bells and whistles… Last edited by PNWM3; 07-01-2021 at 12:39 AM.. |

Ok, here is some more real world numbers. So this post started with me trading my XB7 with 19k miles selling for 125k. Here are some new numbers for you. My wife could not decide that she liked any vehicle on the planet better than her XB7 so on Saturday July 24, 2021 I went and bought her a Alpina blue XB7 with a sticker of 150k for $134,411.
