0W-12
So I popped the hood on my 2023 X7 40i to do my first oil change. And saw this sticker.
Anyone else have this one theirs? And more importantly WTF? Manual states 0W-20/0W-30. |

interesting.. wonder if this is as part of the mild hybrid upgrade. But MY21 and 22 also had it. the rating 12 (in 0w-12) means the high temperature tolerance is also low.
Curious to know more on this now... |

Sure, I am definitely familiar with the weight spec. Maybe I am just old school but my daughter's RAV4 calls for 20W and I cringe every time I change the oil. And I am aware that BMW started calling for 20W as well. I was just floored by the 12W spec on the sticker. The manual does state BMW Longlife-12 FE or BMW Longlife-17 FE+. I am just not aware of that spec allowing for 12W. I always thought the LL-12 meant 0W-30 and LL-17 was 0W-20. I can't find any mention of any spec allowing 12W.
