M60i Highway Wind Noise
Just picked up my M60i this past week. Marina bay blue fully loaded. Love the car except for the wind noise on the highway. Sounds like it comes from both the drivers and passenger windows down by the mirrors. First time wife was in it she thought her window was open.
Anyone else having this issue? |

It could be any one of the following issues. You'd think BMW would have resolved all of the following issues by this time. However, from what I'm hearing people with new vehicles are still having these same issues.
Good luck and keep us posted on what you find out. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...75279-9999.pdf |

Usually they can fix that by replacing the mirror housing. I had it done on my X3 some years ago. BMW will likely know about it but it's def a dealer fix and most likely IS covered under warranty

It's listed in the SIB 51 07 22 that I posted above about the mirrors.

Look at the mirror housing, where the two pieces come together like a clamshell. In between the mirror and where it attches to the door. Some mirrors have a big crack and it generates a lot of noise. Reach your hand out the window, block the wind and you can hear the difference.

Well I taped up the mirror and where it connects to car along with trim piece on the windshield which is loose but still hearing the wind noise. Feel defeated

does the sound change if you manually fold in the mirror? (you cant use the button as it will unfold over 8mph)

I've had this thought as well - I had a 22 M50i before my 23 M60i and I honestly thought the M50i had less wind noise at highway speed. If you figure anything out let me know - I was going to bring up to my dealer as well. |

I was surprised by the amount of wind noise in my new M60i also. I actually checked to see if the window was cracked open, but it wasn't. Haven't really noticed it now as I drive with music playing 90% of the time.

Mine is very noticeable. I thought window was not up all the way when first driving it and then wife was asking why window not all the way up after being on highway for 2 minutes. If this is “normal” I’m pretty disappointed

Did any of you that have this wind noise problem look at the other SIBs that I posted previously on this issue. I listed all of them in my previous post. Maybe you aren't seeing them. I listed a total of 6 SIBs regarding wind noise on the X7.
If you're not seeing them let me know and I will provide a link to each of them via the NHTSA website. |
