All the press shots have real chrome. It was a miss from BMW in my book:

It's chrome behind a glass piece. They did that so the chrome doesn't wear over time

My wife and I both added using the VIN. I think there was a part where you have to be in the car to fully pair it to the app.

Also, the remote features (remote start and video) require acknowledgment in the car before they can be used. The acknowledgment is profile specific, so you will both have to do that.

Thanks, that's kind of what I assumed, but thanks for clarifying. I'm about to go work on her stuff, I'll report back.

Question is, can you get access to it for a little 3M action and then put the plastic back on? I've got a guy who does wraps and black out packages, he's going to black out the rims, X7 and 60i logos, I'll have him take a look, but I suspect it's not going to be easy or presents risk of cracking plastic

Depending on your ocd level, could always have him order the part, pre wrap in gloss black and swap them out

You could just black the portion out from the top and not worry about taking that piece off

Yeah, wonder how it'd look with a piece of tape with a ridge. Also, the reflection underneath with the depth might look weird. I guess if they perfectly tape it to the entire size of the glass it might look ok. I'll evaluate options.

Got my wife's BMW ID and Phone all working as well as her settings and profile stored. Seemed to work well. Thanks for the tips earlier.

Currently my biggest pet peeve is the fact that there is no unlock function on the rear doors. As parents of a young child we almost always get our kid into the car first, so this is a large oversight. Shockingly, our other vehicles have always unlocked when touching any door. So now we need to touch the front door first to open the rear door. Kind of annoying, but first world problems for sure.

This is odd. Both my 2022 X5's had them on rear doors, then I got my '22 iX and it doesn't have lock/unlock on the rear doors. I wonder if the '22 X7s did and this is more cost cutting...

From the manual, specified "a front door":

Also, on the front door, there's a round plate. It's not a button and it does nothing. To lock you press the three dashes icon on the top. Reading the manual, now I found it is a manual cover to insert the physical key. I felt this was a removed lock button as cost cutting, but it is simply just a cover for the manual key. Just sharing so you don't keep pressing it expecting it to do something:

Great Post

Thanks for sharing. I have a X7M60i ordered as well, but like others it is waiting in QC. It was nice to see some first had pictures of the Marina Bay Blue Metallic on the X7, very few of them on the internet.

I hope you work out some of the issues you are having especially the ambient lighting, because I know it has many different color options.

Did you see the setting that tells the car to unlock all doors when you touch the drivers door? It doesn't really fix your issue, but makes it a bit easier. I'm sure BMW would tell you to enable comfort access, but I understand why you disabled it. I don't have a fully formed opinion on that feature yet. I still have it enabled.

What about auto start/stop... I believe I read somewhere for the '23 X7's this function cannot be overridden?

Yes, thanks for the call out, I did adjust that setting right when I got the car, so we can now just touch the front door and it'll unlock the rear door. It's a minor inconvenience now.
