Thanks, good to know. We did make her an account and get her all setup on her own profile! It worked well!

Can you take a pic of the dash ambient lighting at night? Did they remove the strip entirely that was there pre LCI and just replace it with the X7 on the dash? Is there ambient lighting behind the screen?

Also, you said you can change the colors...can you show the screen where it gives you color options? I am wondering if they added new colors or whether it's the same color choices as pre-LCI. Thanks. Love the MBB.

Seeking advice, what accessories can I get for that bracket system behind the front seats for rear passengers. Like an iPad mount so my kid can watch movies on road trips. I know they make them, but I can't find any on Amazon. Is there anything else worth getting for that attachment system?

Thanks, but these seem to be universal. I was more after the X7 specific mounting brackets. I can't find it on Amazon, but I did find this, which is kind of what I was thinking:

Yeah I've been searching for a mount like that but I don't think anyone has made one other then the OEM ones. One would think another company would produce one. I'll try to see if it can find one online

My question is whether a part like that would work with my son's iPad. Here's the part:
https://www.bmwpartspros.com/oem-par...er-51952408224

My son has the latest Apple iPad Air, but it is in a crazy protective iPad case. I don't know if this thing will work with such a case. My kid's case is a Speck, but it kind of looks like this:

I would say get and try it out. It might attach over the part that domes t have the handle or the inner handle portion. If it doesn't work you can return it

Apologies, wow this is a horrible video. My iPhone 13 Pro doesn't love dark, and I was moving it around a bit, but this gives you an idea of how the two primary ambient light systems work.

My wife configured a blue (Indigo), I personally like the gold. Maybe it's my V60 Polestar Engineered influence as I rock gold accents in that interior as well. When you flip to Sport Mode, it turns dark red (there's a setting to turn that on or off, the "adaptive" change). I haven't yet seen the interaction for an "Event" which includes phone calls and other things. I'll try to report that when I face a real life encounter.

Here's the video, enjoy!!!

Just to save people the grief I just had, the CarKey and Apple ID thing is not super intuitive.

Earlier I wrote about sharing a CarKey from my Apple Wallet to my wife. Someone led me to believe that she'd just be a "Guest Key" which is partially accurate, but the devil is in the detail.

I then had her make an Apple ID, I then sync'd her with the car, linked her physical key and her Digital key to the car. Life was good.

Some hours later, I went into my Wallet and revoked her access thinking that was the "Guest Key" access I provided earlier.

Many hours later, my wife said her phone key wasn't working and that she then deleted her wallet app. For the life of us, we couldn't get her phone re-registered as a digital key. It kept wanting to take over primary key role. The help we were getting wasn't helpful on the various BMW videos.

I kept thinking in my head that we both needed to be Digital Keys, but reality is, the car only has one Digital Key. Sharing a key doesn't necessarily mean it's a Guest Key. If you share a key, you can THEN link it to a BMW ID. So I reshared access from my wallet, she put it in hers, then we were able to easily link that shared key to her BMW ID profile through the car. Simply put, my later going back and removing the share took her phone out.

Long story short, there's only ONE Digital Key, called "Main Key". It can share up to 5 keys, and those 5 keys can then be linked to different BMW IDs with their unique settings.

It works well when you understand the inner workings.

Technically, sharing a key generates a unique key that gets recognized by the car. It defaults to guest profile but could be linked to any BMW ID later. If you revoke your shared key it stops working.

Did you figure out unlocking the doors using any door handle? Do non-driver doors have grooves on the inner side of the handle (touch area for locking)? Did you check the settings?

My '22 X7 allows to unlock by touching any door handle, but it has to be enabled in settings. By default (I believe) only the driver door is active.

As far as I can tell as well as the users manual indicates, only the front doors have lock and unlock sensors in them. I posted screenshots of the manual several posts back.

Very nice that they added more colors! I think they should have kept the ambient strip going across the entire dash, though.....looks better than just the X7 on the dash in ambient coloring. For me, that one going across the dash in the pre-LCI was kind of the most important one for the aura of the interior.

Thank for sharing. I was hoping for a full light across the dash. This looks amazing as well.

Very nice that they added more colors! I think they should have kept the ambient strip going across the entire dash, though.....looks better than just the X7 on the dash in ambient coloring. For me, that one going across the dash in the pre-LCI was kind of the most important one for the aura of the interior.
I completely agree with this opinion
