New X7 vs LCI

Hi folks

I'm looking to get into a new X7 in the coming couple months.
Since LCI is a year away, would you recommend waiting for LCI vs getting into the current one. We test drove and liked it a lot. Currently I have GLS ( the older version) and can wait a year for the LCI if some really exciting changes are anticipated.

Thanks for your input

The problem now is getting a 2021/2022 in a higher spec as many options just are not available and that is a problem at this flagship level of vehicle. It doesn’t look that great to see many of these options returning anytime soon so if you can find a X7 in the spec you want, you buy it. Considering the X7 is a all new platform introduced in 2019, it’s not like a LCi will be that relevant unless BMW really screws up the current handsome design.

My one and only concern with LCI is the headlights.

BMW would probably gain a bit from not being so guarded about what's on the way right now. Hell, they've scaled back production, so what's the issue with releasing some images?

I agree. I ended up getting a 2021 to avoid being without things like Harmon Kardon or a surround view camera on a 2022. At almost 100k, I was not willing to do without.

the Lci changes the front a lot. if you don't like the look, pick the one that looks better to you.

that said, it's not that meaningful unless you really want the LCI

There's been multiple threads about this over the last several months.

No guarantee LCI will be any better than current. No indications how current supply boondoggle will develop.

If it were me, personally, I wouldn't accept current compromises, and I'd wait a year or two if I could.

Not to mention the fact that no one really knows what the LCI front will look like. Between the camo and additional "bulges" on the test mules seen, BMW does a good job of hiding their new designs until they are ready to show them. All of the speculative renders out there are well, speculative…..

IMHO, I would wait just due to the parts shortages. As others have mentioned, lack of certain features for a vehicle at this price point, regardless of trim, is a bit unacceptable (even if it may unfortunately be necessary by the manufacturer).

LCI likely has the updated Mobileye Processor with Eye Q5. Expect the semi self driving features to improve.
