As expected, GPS and ConnectedDrive no longer working. This has been happening on and off. Each time lasted less than 24 hours. The person in charged of the iDrive System should be fired as the system including GPS is not reliable at all. Thank god Carplay works reliably with iOS 13 beta 4.

Did you take it to BMW for the update or was it an OTA update?

I took it to the dealer to upgrade idrive (although they run a complete scan and update everything). I had an older version than you (.30 maybe?)

Anyway. After update I have not been able to determine what version I have AND All bmw apps are missing except “bmw assist”. It’s been 24 hours and still not there.

Same here. Since my idrive update 3 days ago, it’s connected 100% of the time. Maybe 12-15 connections. My phone is on iOS 12.3.1.

The latest idrive version appears to have helped. However, it appears they’ve taken away the “remote update” and ability to see what idrive version is installed.

Were you having connect issues prior to updating your iDrive? Do you remember what version of iDrive you were on?

I'm having real issues with my mine. It's not just CarPlay, I can't even get bluetooth to connect with any reliability.

I'm considering going in for service, but am wondering whether they even have a proper release to update the car with. I think someone on this forum said that their dealer advised them to wait until the end of the month.

I used to be on 03/2019.35. It was a total mess on CarPlay or regular BT. No rhyme or reason at all and no surefire workaround that worked every time. . Sometimes not only would it just not connect, but the phone would be missing from the known devices list.

My dealer told me many people have been complaining about ID7 iPhone problems, but everybody had been happy after updating. Your dealer can run your VIN and tell you if there is an update bulletin available for your car.

I’m waiting for others to update and see if they can determine what version they have or if their bmw apps are also awol.

LittleJoe - I think you are on .60. Can you see the “remote update” option and software version still?

Just checked the update website with my VIN and it says “no update necessary” and my connectivity with CarPlay is wildly inconsistent.

I'm also at .60 but I've always been able to see the Remote Update screen on this and two earlier versions of iDrive 7.

Update:

3 days after the dealer updated my X7, my apps are back and so is the “remote update” option. It seems that I now have .60 installed. I can only speculate that the system completes the install OTA. Now that it appears to have completed, the remote update option makes itself visible. It must not want you searching for updates while it’s still updating????

My GPS works sporadically - whenever there's data connection, when the connected apps are functioning. However, once there is no data connection, GPS would be miles away from the actual location. The data connection is never consistent. I only have 2 instances of successful data connection since I pick up my car on July 3rd. How is your X7's data connection? Does your GPS work while there's no data connection? The easiest way to know if you have connection is looking at the traffic data or the weather app.

Anyone know how to make the status bar hide when you are driving? My X7 did this before the 7.30.2019 update. Apple CarPlay is resolved in this update.

My dealer told me the next "dealer-installed" iDrive software update is to be released this Friday, July 26. I'm scheduled for the update on Monday, July 29. They do not know what version it is as the files they download and then install show an entirely different version number. Not sure exactly what that means but that's what they told me. I'll post the version number after the update is installed.

Sounds like the file names have version numbers associated but may not match the actual version of the software being applied.
