Real Life fuel economy

Could the early owners of X7 40i/50i/m50d advise what their RL fuel consumption is? Despite of new WLTP rules I'm still reluctant to trust the test results and would rather get an actual answer from the crowd.

I've seen pretty wild variations on with my M50d. According to the cars estimations, I can get around 40mpg+ on a longer run to around 19-21mpg when I'm stuck in the city. The car is still new, so I can't help but pop it into sport plus, plant the throttle and listen to the noise it makes - quite amazing for a diesel....

Just did a trip to Charlotte, N.C. area from north of Atlanta covered about 300 miles; some stop and go traffic, but mostly interstate and averaged 21 mpg! Our 50i X7 started the trip with 1100 miles on it.

X7 3.0 Diesel, have not done allot of miles yet to get a good average, but 35 mpg on 580 miles. I guess the average will get higher after some more miles.

Just finished a 3 hour trip of all highway driving in adaptive mode, speeds of 80-90 most of the time (don’t judge). My mpg was 21.4 — 50i

Since picking it up, I’ve put 2600 miles on it at an average mpg of 13.8

Don't worry. Let all these electric car manufacturers go up on the road and see how the gas price goes down. Enjoy the last few years of gas-Ohhh-lin!

Oh I wish we could of gotten that diesel engine here in the USA. The gas tank is only 22 gallons which is very small for a big suv and that low gas mileage on the 40i and 50i we get here. Still keeping our 2015 X5d which is getting 30 mpg highway.

Reading this thread again makes me so disappointed no diesel.

Obviously I would like a 50/M50i X7 but would probably settle for the 40i, but the wife aint gonna be too excited about going from 30mpg in our 35d X5 to 15-20mpg of the 40i and forget about when I tell her the 50i is 10-15mpg.

Might have to hold out for the 40e in 2021 I guess when it will be about 25+ mpg equivalent.

Perhaps will just get a LR Defender diesel 7 passenger instead.... seriously considering this.

I only get 10 mpg with normal city driving to and from school which is 5 miles, i use an app to track my mileage and that's what i got. Bmw lied, claiming up to 20 mpg but that not even close considering what i just mentioned.
I haven't track mpg on the highway yet because of gas are all time high and no plan for traveling yet. Im sure with the aforementioned i wont get 25 mpg highway probably half 12.5 to 13 mpg depending on how you accelerate or drive.
