Saw one down at my local dealer yesterday too...

Not sure how I feel about it - I am not in the target market for this kind of vehicle, so not sure my opinion means much. But it looks huge, and that side profile reminds me of a Shaq-sized roller skate. It wasn't very impressive in the flesh...

agree, thats why all basic cars look like that. Thats why they want you to purchase options and packages.

Congrats OP, great looking car and options! I think X7 is one of the best looking true 3 row seaters on the market now. I am starting to think of X7 5.0M as my next car - I know it's new, but has anyone cross shopped X7 with an X5M or X6M?

$100k+ luxury SUV and they put that "leather" on the top of the doors and dash? Wow cheap. You should not have to spend another $1200 to fix that.

Objectively, I think the Lexus is at least as nice appearance wise as the X7, despite being a much older design. The Lexus LX is certainly nice in its own right (duh, that's why the OP bought it)

OP certainly has the bones where reliability and depreciation won't be a significant concern.

Though I am sure the X7 rides a lot better and has tons more pickup and performance. It's the latest and greatest and newest chassis around in the class.

Lexus is coming around with their newest full size SUV too so stay tuned.

This is a car aimed at the 1% of the total population that have the wealth and respective incomes to take one home.

Let's be honest here...... if you have $100K+ burning a hole in your pants and you can comfortably afford a vehicle like this, another $1200 is just pocket change when all is said and done.

Not being a hater at all but that was exactly my first thought when I saw the close up of the door. Think any high end BMW, X5M, X6M or even the new M5 for that matter. The top of the door and dash leather is the same as the seats, Nappa/Merino, whatever you want to call it. Its the smooth leather, not the grainy leather.

Just curious, what $1,200 option do you need to get proper smooth leather on dash/doors?

I think it's included in the 4M5 Leather Dashboard option. Given that these are primarily people-haulers and not garage queens, I appreciate that BMW provides the choice of durability or luxury. If you want leather seats and dash, it's only $2,650. And, if you're X7's going to have a tougher life, Sensatec seats and more durable door tops are standard. Even "full" leather, with dashboard, is only $6,350.

What would you consider the 'best looking SUV ever made'? Surely not a Lexus or RR.

I've owned a lot of BMW's and would consider myself a loyal fan of the brand. The quality, fit, finish and value has been commendable compared to most competing brands. That said, I won't be purchasing any of the new vehicles with the buck-toothed front grilles. I honestly thought the first renderings of these cars were a bad joke when they first appeared on this board. I hoped the final versions would not have these exaggerated dimensions, and was thoroughly disappointed to see the designs made it to final production. I am currently on my second X5M and don't know what I'll do when it's time to trade.

Granted, the Lexus has the ugliest maw on the market, so I see where BMW fans prefer to make the comparison here. The majority of the people I have spoken with, who are not brand loyalists or car aficionados, feel the Cayenne and Range Rover possess far more attractive designs. Is this a testament to quality, engineering or driving enjoyment? No. But let's be honest with ourselves as BMW owners/fans, this new line of vehicles is hideous to look at. Maybe purchasing an all black version and immediately ordering blacked-out components is the best compromise to avoid parking lot embarrassment. I highly recommend new buyers visit the IND website to make the necessary "upgrades."
