Believe you may have options to disable this in iDrive, but one quick and dirty trick you can use is to simply switch the mirror adjustment switch to the passenger side, as I believe the tilt down feature only works when it is set to the driver (left) side.

I tested this today and youíre correct. How on earth did you stumble across this trick?

This has been around since at least 2016 as my 3 series had it.

Ha ha. Well, I guess itís just the way it was designed. I havenít tried it in awhile, but I believe my 2013 M3 also does it.

Unfortunately, I looked in the iDrive menus for awhile, for a way to change the ďdipĒ setting. Maybe it is there, but I could not find it

Just FYI, this is pretty standard across the car industry. Every car I've owned of different makes is like that (except opposite from what's described... move the switch away from passenger side to turn off)
