Hello,
First time posting. I'm interested in this demo vehicle

https://www.advantagebmwhouston.com/...cw2c08l9b57098

Can someone suggest if it is a good deal. Can I negotiate a better price or should I look for a different vehicle.

Thanks in advance.

It's a 2020 with a MSRP of $79k with 4k miles already on it. I wouldn't recommend paying more than $60k for it.

I'm sure you can get a better price on a 2021.

Thanks for the replies. That gives me a better idea about the prices. I tried looking out of my area and came across this

https://www.bmwofsanantonio.com/cert...dac05fb8a8.htm

I understand this is not a similar car, but what would be a good price for this to negotiate. That will give me a good idea on what kind of prices to look for in a 50i

Also would be a wise choice to look for cars from non BMW dealerships like this one

I would not go non-bmw dealer as I would typically go for CPO...unless you are OK with remainder of factory warranty and aftermarket warranty. That said used car market is so hot right now, It made sense for use to just buy new/build. 9%+off MSRP +incentives is easily negotiated and if not locally, nothing that can't be fixed via shipping.

Remember we are in a different time with pre owned vehicles at a all time high premium.

I believe the book sheet on a similar vehicle with a lot more miles is around $68k (I just had my used car manager book one out that we were taking in on trade) so this actually seems like a decent deal to me.

I am seeing 2019 cars available with 25k miles. Are they good to consider or stay away from them?

Nothing wrong with that. There were some iDrive 7 hardware changes from 2019 to 2020 but nothing major unless you need all the bells and whistles. The G05 X5 and G07 X7 were all new vehicles launched in late 2018 for the 2019 model year so in reality they are still rather new platforms.

Not worried about hardware changes. For example this one here is not certified but from a BMW dealer

https://www.advantagebmwclearlake.co...cw2c55kl086338

Just worried if that is a high mileage that I should be concerned about

If you are willing to drive I have a dealer in Atlanta that will give you 10% off MSRP on a new build before incentives. If not at least you can use that info as a bargaining chip. Price is way too high for that car.

$80k for that 2019, with those options? Oh HELL no. Go buy a brand new 2021 exactly the way you want it, from a salesman that will give you 10% off before incentives, and you'll end up with a very comparable price.

Please share the dealer info. I don't mind driving or pay for shipping it to me. Thanks

What would be a good price to negotiate on this car.

There is zero difference between the 2019 and 2022 iDrive7 systems as far as hardware for the X7. You can update a 2019 to mirror all features that a 2022 has available.

OP: If you're happy with the car and your buying experience, than it's a "good deal."

That car probably had a original MSRP of $85k-$87k. A good price is probably in the low 70k to upper 60k range.

As a reference, I ordered my 2020 spec'ed to $90k MSRP and paid roughly $81k for it before TTL. (could've gotten it lowered by another $2k or so if wife was willing to travel an hour to a big city dealer).

You can probably get a brand new 2021 X7 with MSRP of $85k-$87k for $80k before TTL without too much issue.

Yes there is a hardware change. 2019 iDrive 7 vehicles didn’t get BMW Assisted Driving View option as well as other features that were standard starting for the 2020 model year.
I owned a 2019 and there were a few features that only started for 2020 models as well as they couldn’t be firmware upgraded. The newer 2020 iDrive 7 hardware was noticeably faster with less lag.
We went into it in depth on the G05 forum.

Doesn't the 2021 Idrive 7 also have support for Apple digital key that was not present in the 2019 or 2020?

Yes. Not sure if 2020 can get it?? I have been using Android for my 2019 and 2020 model vehicles.

BMW is very sneaky with new compatibility options especially for 1st year production models. They pretty much hosed the early adopters of the new 2019 platform. I was practically a beta tester working with BMW every week on the phone with bugs and upgrades. Tech roll out was a mess. Promises of “firmware fixes”or adding features they already advertised you were supposed to have but didn’t and said it “might be in the next firmware update” but they didn’t know....

Nah, it's same BMW sneaky thing as MY19 that didn't get Assisted Driving View but added on 07/2019 production for MY20 models.

There was a 07 or 08/2020 production update that added support for Apple digital key for MY21 models.

iDrive is like BMW's version of Apple's iPhone - changes every year.

Thanks for all the inputs guys. One of the local dealer offered 10% off of MSRP on the new 2021 40is. Considering that route instead of the used ones as there are a few hardware changes in idrive as you guys mentioned. Initially, I wasn't particular about it, but with the 10% off, I thought why not
