X7 M50i order questions:

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
On my X7 M50i order I'm thinking about getting rid of a couple options. Wich ones would you keep/eliminate?

Dynamic Handling
Extended Merino Leather
Executive Package

Anyone have a good daylight pic of the 22" M V Spoke Cerium Grey Wheels?

I’m telling you those are all worth it. But they are already in order of importance… I’ve had a 2020 M50, loaner 2021 40i for 5 months, and now my 2022 M50i and the DHP is a game changer.

sunlight view… I do not notice any other color but grey. It would really irritate me if they had any taupe or tan in them. :-)

Thanks for the extra photos. The stock wheels are Orbit grey, and I think its a little darker. I'm going to get the extended shadow line trim so I wanted a slightly darker wheel. They make the same wheel with a black background for the 40i, I don't know why it's not available on the M50i. Yours look good though, so that is probably what I'll go with. Unfortunately it will mean a new wheel and tire set up for winter.

I paid $5,270.40, which was the stated price on the website +++. As they typically sell out fast, we wanted to make sure we got in while we could. It also came with 2 free swaps, as we also have the dealer store the set not is use.

Keep them all. First time [almost] owner here. I think I checked all the boxes for options. Maybe not the Merino Leather; I cared more about captain's chairs.

You won't regret keeping all.

Do you think the 22" wheels are worth the added cost/hassle of having the winter wheels?

I like the look and they do handle a bit better when it’s not winter. So if you like them and can swing it, then yes, they are worth it.

That said, if you’re more indifferent, then getting the 754M with All-season tires is an acceptable alternative with less hassle.

Being a total enabler to the OP I just picked up my X7M on Friday with all of the above and the shadowline and the leather dash. I originally didn't want the Exec or the leather dash. BUT.......

The leather dash is REALLY nice and gives it such a nice look. The DHP and Extended Merino feels outstanding so that leaves the exec package. By far my least desired but the car I found already had it and was tired of waiting for another one.

The LED lighting stuff is no big deal to me...could care less (my daughter thinks it's the greatest thing ever though). I think the shift selector with the cut glass look REALLY NICE. Then the cup holders with heating/cooling. Who thinks of these things and makes them an option? Total reach. Who drinks coffee without a thermal cup making them useless? And then...I grabbed a bottle of water to go and tried it for cool. It was nice. Was it worth the package....no. But, in the grand scheme of a $1K option package on a $100K+ car....oh what the heck...and likely what the marketing folks at BMW knew would be a response.

So....go for it all! The car is a blast to drive, I am assuming it is my last ICE car so going to enjoy driving it hard and happy to visit a gas station for the next handful of years rather than plugging in.

100% worth it...

I take lots of joy in swapping out the winters for the summers and changing the look of vehicle every spring.

I also enjoy not having to purchase summer tires every season since I can split the miles on much longer lasting All Terrains.

Almost all same.

I did not get the extended merino. Got everything else. I keep refreshing my build tracking page. At least it moved one spot. It is slated for an "early May" production slot.

I had exactly the same thought about this likely being our last ICE. I am sadistically looking forward to the gas station visits not because of an affinity for emissions but for the sheer enjoyment and the V8 growl. From what I see here, I'm in for a treat.

For the OP, if you are still on the fence, jump off and throw it all in. In my case, I am getting custom wheels & tires and keep the factory for winter tires.

I ordered a '22 X7 last year and got the 22" wheels and executive package.

I just ordered another '22 X7, this time I went with Premium Package + glass controls (no sunroof with LEDs, no heated/cooled cup holders). I never used either, and that was $650 saved--most of the cost of HK sound system.

I also went with the 21" wheels, because while I love the look of the 22", they chew through rubber like crazy. I'd rather have the 21's with decent tire life.

Finally I stuck with the standard Vernasca leather on both builds. Extended Merino didn't really seem sporty to me, and I felt the Vernasca would look better. I did go with the luxury seating package though.

I kept my 2022 M50i simple. Only DHP and none of the other stuff including keeping the 21" wheels due to being in the snowbelt and avoiding the hassle/cost of 22". I thought about captain's chairs, but kept the bench given I need the cargo space to haul junk. That's me. Everyone has their preferences -> most important is to enjoy the vehicle.

I kept the bench for the same reason. Sometimes I just need all the space back there.

Add another to keeping the bench. I got the X7 to really carry 5 with a nice big storage area and when skiing carry 4 with all the gear INSIDE the car.

Best of luck with the final decision!

I went from captains' chairs to bench for this reason as well. The second row not folding flat was never an issue in the last 2.5 years (and I've had numerous trips with 8' lumber in the car). I would still get 3 or 4 of us in the car with skis in bags having the captains' chairs, but the second row wasn't the most comfortable having the bag on their armrests and the cargo area in the back being split by the bag wasn't the tidiest scenario for the rest of the gear, so I'd still usually throw on my roof top box unless I was going to one of the local spots (have 5+ within 45 minutes of me). I had a bench in a rental in CO a couple months ago and made the 2 hour trip each way from DEN to Breck with 5 people (1 child) + ski gear and luggage for all with no issues or complaints.

I would say... I don't get the same feeling of space and luxury looking back from the driver's seat now that I have the bench, but my 9 y/o daughter actually likes it more (worried that my 14 y/o that sits in the third row by herself will regret not having the extra foot room between the seats, though).

As others have said you listed them in order of importance to me at least.

I wouldn't get rid of the exec package unless you hate the LEDs. Its so cheap on a $100k car just put it in.

The only one I didn't get was Merino, I wanted it but my wife only liked the Cognac color which doesn't come in Merino on an X7 (I could get it as an individual but it was $16k and that would just be dumb, I would rather by the XB7 then pay that).

That being said, as much as I love Merino, the Venasca isn't that bad, but I added the leather dash which to me is a must, had it on the X5 and 750. I remember getting in X5s without it and it just didn't feel like a premium car to me compared to the ones with it.
