Was picking up at the dealership today and saw an M2 and M5 in Hockenheim Silver. Great color. $500 upgrade on M2, $5,000 on M5?

Ja, it's sticker shock when BMW Manufaktur paint colors are SABI ($550-$1950) standard color or Priority 1 options are on various M models and require 490 ($5K+). But it's meant to create model line signature colors.

Hockenheim Silver is classic. There's been a flourish of new BMW grays recently - Brooklyn Grey, Oxide Grey (my favorite), Bernina, Dravit, Skyscraper Grey

I would order a X5 or X7 in Oxide grey in a heartbeat.

By the way, due to shortage of semiconductor chips, many features and options are eliminated on X7 and X5.

No more laserlights, no Harman Kardon, no Glass controls, no LED Sky Lounge, no automatic soft close doors, no cool/heated cup holders, and soon the Head Up Display.

This is mis-information for anyone reading.

I was leaning Grigio Telesto for my wife's new soccer mom monster, now these additional choices may have to go Petrol Mica. Not sure if this has been posted here so thought i would share the list.

Frozen Deep Grey Metallic (P7X)
Atlantis Metallic (399)
Macadamia Metallic (U80)
Midnight Sapphire Metallic (R71)
Orinoco Pearl Metallic (406)
San Marino Blue Metallic (B51)
Malachite Dark Green Metallic (205)
Verde Ermes Pearl Metallic (P7T)
Brass / Messing Metallic (621)
Zanzibar Metallic (P7W)
Lime Rock Grey Metallic (C39)
Gunmetal Metallic (W24)
Ruby Black Metallic (X03)
British Racing Green (213)
Ruby Red Metallic (S03)
Petrol Mica (305)
Avus Blue Metallic (276)
Grigio Telesto Pearl Metallic (P6M)
Frozen Black Metallic (U91)
Thank you for your time and the information. Both X5 and X7 have some boring color selections. However, for someone who wants to lease these cars for 3 years might not want to spend $5K+ just for paint. The Arctic Grey and the Dark Graphite must go.

BMW USA needs to re-evaluate their options and packages as well, especially for the X5. They took away the automatic soft close doors and the cool/heated cup holders from the US market.

They also took away the soft close doors and the 4-zone climate control on the 5 series. Also, the US 5 series is not getting the Laserlights and the touch climate control, which is now standard on all 5 series models in NA, Europe, and the Middle East.

Those who hot the 2019 and 2020 X5 and X7, their cars is more equipped than the 2021. The same goes for the 5 series.
FWIW, The heated and cooled cup holders are "MEH" at best. If you have a typical Starbucks paper cup, the ridge at the bottom of the cup prevents the bottom "floor" of the cup from coming into contact with the heated surface of the cup holder. Yes, the sides heat a bit too but most of the heating and cooling comes from the horizontal surface of the cup holder. I drink my coffee way to fast for it to do any good. Same with the chilled function. A cup of McDonalds soda with the chiller turned on will still result in melted ice- eventually. It may help delay the melting a little bit. But not much.
Soft close doors are a must have IMHO.

I think this is a key physics point about the function of the heated and cooled cupholders. Coffee cups have that little stiff ridge around the base, so that the bottom is raised off the sitting surface by 1/4". Soda cans have a concave bottom, so that there is also just a ring in contact with the surface. Both will limit the thermal effectiveness of the cupholder, whether heating or cooling.

I don't think plastic bottles are very effective, in transmitting the heating/cooling. So I bought a non-insulated stainless steel bottle, with flat bottom, for this very reason and purpose.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've been nervous to actually try it out, though, due to a previous post I remember where someone had a thermal runaway with a bottle in their heated/cooled cupholder, and it has melted the console area.

Saw an X7 in my area today that appeared to be Snapper Rocks Blue. I literally saw it coming from a mile away and came here to see if it was on the list... it's not and I don't think they could go that individual in SC yet, so I'm guessing maybe it was a wrap trying to match their M5 or something... are you here!? lol

Petrol Mica and Orinoco Pearl Metallic seem like interesting shades of blue (possibly with a green tinge).

I have seen both on the X7. For those interested my 2 cents:
Petrol Mica was in real life underwhelming, it was very dark even on direct sunlight. On the other hand the Orinoco was very nice "steel" blue shade and worked really well with Pure Excellence package and aluminum trim.

hmmm... I didn't know Atlantis was available now... I was thinking someone near me wrapped their X7 (I actually thought it was closer to Snapper Rocks and someone was trying to match their M5), but this makes more sense. I see it most mornings going the opposite way on my commute. I'll try to track it down.

I just tried to change my (week 23 / beginning of June) build to Atlantis Blue but my CA said that they're no longer doing Individual paints for pre-LCI G07 since they're near end of production.
