MB is just butt ugly, for that kind of money they could have made it look special. Looks like it just rolled out of "pump my ride"

X7 is aggressive and sporty looking, definitely more of a drivers car and a looker.

Not to mention mb hasn't really changed since it's debut, minor lci stuff

There, you nailed it. I couldn't place the design.

Maybach obviously designed for the Chinese market. Certainly not my cup of tea, but over there it will sell like hotcakes.

The Alpina is an amazing proposition, but I'm holding out hope that they build an X8 variant, as I have zero use for 3rd row seating and would much rather have additional legroom and more cargo space than what is offered in the X7 platform.

For such a gigantic vehicle, the interior space is simply not configured for super tall families like mine.

The Maybach S-class looks wonderful in my opinion.

Ditto. I was picking my car up after ceramic, and another owner was there with his, and I had a chance to sit in the front and back. Beautiful car!

Blue looks quite nice. Didn't realize they had any W223 Maybach's in the states.
Come on Stein, l always follow your post & like the blue color more than any other color but the fact they slab the blue on this car Doesn't make her any better!
Lol the car may not be beautiful but I do like that blue more, compliment was more to the paint than the car if anything, I didn't even know you could get it on a GLS. Definitely better than the dreary blacks and grays that so many videos and press releases feature. If spending close to $200k on a flashy car might as well get a flashy color to match

I was quite shocked myself. Pretty sure it was to transport their executives to and from the tournament.
Players tournament courtesy cars, as MB is a corporate sponsor.

Clearly the Maybach is to be chauffeured in. The XB7 is more like a regular ultra luxe SUV. Neither really looks that great from the outside. My 2 cents worth. In general, I agreed with their assessment - probably because I am in the SP demographics. JMHO.

For instance, to afford the Maybach you also need to be able to afford a chauffeur. Not so for the XB7. No one I know would drive a Maybach with their kids in the back seat.

Is it me, or does an M-Sport X7 with the summer, staggered wheels look better than Alpina?

They are quite a few of us that prefer the “M50i” design over the ALPINA. It was discussed in detail months back but the main reason was because the ALPINA started with base model and added what looks to be a ground effect kit and kept the chrome accents. It’s a completely different look. Different s strokes. I do like the exposed quad exhaust tips of the rear.

It's the front end for me. I'd love the Alpina's exhaust treatment, but the "luxury" line along with the chrome just ruin the vehicle for me. Everything else is a hit, though.

I'm laughing at the silly, salty, nonsensical comments about the Maybach. No, it looks nothing like a donk and anyone who's ever been within 10 feet of both would know that. The two-tone thing is just a Maybach 'thing'. You are well within your abilities to order a single tone gls600 since they are simply built to your request. Overall body looks between the GLS and x7 are subjective and this is a forum for people who either own x7's, or inexplicably fan for them without owning them.

The lack of major compromises in the GLS tickle me.

The Maybach is for the Chinese market where excessive bling means something. I've seen more Maybachs in Chinese major cities than anywhere in the world.

I doubt anyone even knows about the Alpina brand in China, more people know about AMG or Bmw M than Alpina.

Alpina is for

Agreed. I know some of us would have seriously considered the XB7 if it had been based on the MSport design. I do wish my M50i had the exposed XB7 exhaust. I love that look.

M50i in extended Shadowline with 22-inch rims just looks better than the Alpina! I saw them next to each other at BMW of Alexandria when I got my X5 back in Dec and even commented to the sales rep since the M50i was also fully loaded. Now the interior of the XB7 is another league, especially the leather quality.
