Mail4loys Man, dude. You're killing me. I made the Page to North Rim run on a trip 2 years ago. I only had a couple hours at the rim because we had to backtrack up 67 and head to Zion the same day. I was a little underwhelmed at the vistas there (still awesome) but your pics from the side trip to Roosevelt Point and the others out there tell me I made a horrible mistake not taking the time while I was there to drive that road. Those are some nice views. I got the impression it wasn't paved......but, alas, it is. What a dumbass. Now I gotta go back.
Then you hit Forest Gump Point - one of my favorite spots in the SW. Too bad you couldn't get to Moab, though. Next time, eh? Check out my 2019 trip thru this area. You'll see lots of familiar places (plus a lot of others I highly recommend): https://f90.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1784425 We looped from Bryce to Moab and then caught the western leg of your trip, then back thru Zion. I would do that whole trip again in a heartbeat. Great pics and keep on posting. Stay safe. |

Just a head's up that Google Maps has an Offline mode where you can select a huge geographic area in the app and download it before you leave the house. So if you don't have cellular service it doesn't matter, Google Maps will work as if you did have service. |

Thanks for the tips... I have not used Google for navigation (use Waze and Apple Map). I'll keep in mind for my next trip

Be advised that Google owns Waze and they share the navigation data and provide the same routing and re-routing. Google just has a more mature looking UI and lacks the social features. So next time you take a trip into the wilderness, use Google Maps and take advantage of the Offline download feature. This is also good for people who, say, are taking a trip in Europe and don't want to spend big money on data. |

Day 9 & 10 (July 19 & 20): Return home - 652 miles...
For day 9 & 10 the focus was pretty much getting home . So we started early from Holiday Inn Grants and reach Home2 in Lubbock by 3pm. Took some rest, found Indian restaurant and had much awaited biriyani . Next day left Lubbock by 9am and reached our house by 4pm. It was none event full days … I'll take couple of days and summarize the experience with this trip. Also the good and bad along the way End Odometer : 12,792 Summary: Day 9 Total Miles : 390 Fuel Type : 91 Octane Mode : Adaptive, Active Cruise Speed Maintained: 75 miles A/C : 73 Milage : 21.8 Day 10 Total Miles : 363 Fuel Type : 91 Octane Mode : Sports, Active Cruise Speed Maintained: spirited A/C : 73 Milage : 19.8 Day 9 milage is the all-time high with 21.8mpg … so honestly in the highway driving in Eco or Adaptive didn’t make any difference with the milage. Except for Sports mode In couple of days I'll summarise the experience. Also the good and bad experience along the way ...

Trip Summary:
Trip Summary:
Total Miles travelled: 2,677 US States visited : 4 Total sites visited : 10 National Parks visited: 4 Cost: Gas: $451.03 Food: $542.19 Hotel Stay: $968.68 Entrance Fee & Tour: $350.00 Total : $2,311.9 I’m happy that we didn’t have any major issues in this trip. There were three very minor issues that we had: 1. Electronic 2&3 row switch: In the middle of the trip we had to move 2 row because AirPods was dropped and it rolled in-between 2 and 3 row. It triggered alert and starting seeing error in the console. Because we had our 3row folded and well arranged, we had to redo it at our hotel stop to remove the alert. 2. iDrive 7: While driving in Eco Mode, adaptive cruise, the iDrive crashed and restarted. This happened only once, I didn’t see any adverse effect on steering / acceleration and braking. I was driving somewhere remote so no traffic when it happened 3. BMW Navigation: I tried using BMW navigation during a stretch where there is no cellular network, But the route guidance gave incorrect routing multiple times. So switched back to Waze / Apple Map Fridge & Battery: I'm more than happy about the investment on the Fridge and Battery. It helped us to stock our favorite food for the trip and it reduced our trip cost (saved our taste buds as well). In all our stops we had cool water and drinks, it was very refreshing ... Battery was powering fridge and webcam. that way fridge and webcam was always powered even when the Car was parked and switched off. Both has wifi and bluetooth to check the status, but I turned it off so that when the car is parked it doesn't giveaway information about the cargo The fridge's height fits right with the cargo cover (will have problem even if its an inch extra) In my next post I’ll talk about what went well with X7...
