'23 m60i CEL - brake system/chassis stabilization

Has anyone ever encountered this?

Happened twice at remote start; and wouldn’t let me press down on the brake to turn the car ‘on’.
Also get a “parking brake malfunction” error.

Goes away within a minute or two by itself.

CEL comes on at random startups and clears itself by the next day. By the time I get my obd2 scanner it’s gone…

Next available service appt (with a loaner) is a month out; ridiculous.

Dealing with the same issue since Wednesday. It's extremely frustrating. Especially considering it's a 24 40i that I have only had for 8 weeks.

Brought it to my dealer yesterday and they said it's some sort of control module that's on backorder. They don't have an ETA, however they're working on getting me a loaner

Same exact errors. I had my sales rep bring it to the attention of the service manager that I’m not dropping it off until I get a loaner.

Was yours a one time thing and you brought it in? Mines been doing it for about 2 weeks now. It goes away then comes back the next morning or 2 days later.

I just had my car in for the same error codes and they are keeping it; requires a new control unit and they come from Germany with at least 2 week lead time. only have 1100 miles on the vehicle

Same error I received prior to being towed. Car in Scottsdale Service for 4 weeks now awaiting parts. Brake Booster fiasco, previous recall on multiple BMW models. Very frustrating, sorry.

Having multiple times still happen right now. Even upright to the dealer. When he said that they would have to order the part from Germany, I thought I could try to make it work and brought it home and it has probably started three times over the past 5 days

I have an 2024 X7 M60i ready to be picked from the dealership, but reading about all the issues people are experiencing with 2023/24 X7's is making me nervous about committing to a massive amount only to deal later with a faulty vehicle.

Is there any data available that can provide some guidance on the % of the vehicles impacted by the "Drivetrain malfunction", "Parking brake" or any other random issues ?

I wouldn’t let this issue sway you away from the car; bring this thread up to the dealer and let them know to have the part handy/ordered just incase.
Besides this the car has been faultless..

Technically speaking, if this is an actual hardware issue then wouldn’t the fault be permanent instead of recurring?
In my case, I mostly only get the error on cold start.

Did you buy an extended warranty at the time of the purchase ?

No but I’m not planning on keeping it once it’s out of the original warranty time-frame.
If you are then it’s probably something to consider…

Had the car towed today; it wouldn’t start at all.
Anyone ever have an issue getting a loaner car from the dealer?
Never experienced this..

Would they cover rental expenses if I got one myself?

They should 100% get you a loaner. They should try to give you something similar to what you have. The right thing to do would be give you a x7 loaner or atleast a fully loaded x5 loaner.

you would need to work with the dealer, they likely wont cover it if you get it on your own.

I complained like a Karen and they got me a new IX m60 for the loaner. I guess “karenism” can be beneficial sometimes…

No update on the x7 but they had a new x6 in for service with the same issue; they stated was the brake booster and that part is more than a month out.

My experience - car started but acted very strange - soft brake pedal at start up, then reversed and had a hard time braking, and once that was done it drove fine. Dealer said not safe to drive; week in a loner now, hope it will be at the low end of their estimate of 2 - 3 weeks; otherwise really loved the car. 7th BMW and first issue I have ever had (2 X5, 2 7 series, one 3 series and one 5 series). Not giving up but annoyed

Same here. First issue I’ve had with a BMW after years (except for the ones I modded).

I usually don’t buy a car at its initial release; I give it a year or two to let the issues get corrected… but fell in love with the LCI x7 as soon as I saw it.

Towed again x7 - chassis stabilization, parking, brake

I have had my new 23 X7 3 months. Today, it was placed on the tow truck. Same issues as you are having. Have not heard back from the dealer as of yet, but dang bummed and suffering buyer's remorse. Here are my screenshots. Also, can't get a loaner. Thank goodness I didn't sell my 2002 M3 as I had planned since a single girl shouldn't have to have an extra car, but I will. Hopefully this will be its last trip to the shop.

So service stated it is the “brake booster” and the part was ordered. It should arrive by the 10th… I actually thought it’d take much longer based on what others have stated.

Interesting that you are able to get a Brake Booster so soon. I’ve been waiting over 6 weeks now. Back order from Europe. Good luck
