F87 M2 Wishlist Thread
Since we have over a year before the M2 goes into production, I thought it would be fun to see what everyone's realistic wishes are for the car. While it would be nice to have a 450hp S55 engine, that's not something I'm going to list since we already know BMW have chosen the N55.
In a year's time, we can see how wrong we all were! I'll go first:
For some reason, I really dislike the design of the 2-series interior. E82 just seems so much more clean and less fussy. Hoping that some extra leather bits will help with that. What do you want to see on the car, realistically? |

$55k loaded???
Lets take a step back and rethink this... If m2 is under or near $50k base price. Who on earth will buy a M235i? No one, unless they discontinue the M235i or drop the price and start making a 235i with less standard options....no way guys

I'm not including HUD and LED in that $55k just to be clear. I've fluctuated between thinking this car will be mid $50's to low $60's, but question is with what equipment. Enthusiasts pay pretty dearly for performance...you should see all the toys you get on a new C-class for $55k. New C63 is actually going to be a tremendous value.

We already know the car is getting an LSD. Safe to assume we'll get DCT and an M steering wheel like in the M3/4. We shall see! I'm interested in what other people want on this car. For example, am I the only one that wants full leather? Last edited by vantagesc; 10-07-2014 at 01:58 PM.. |

Honestly, I would be so, so happy with a base price of 50K.
But I'd also be extremely surprised. A 50K base price is a slight increase over the 1M base price, but I don't think BMW cares about pricing it close to the 1M. I'm sadly starting to think the car will start around 55, and be about the price of an M3 when fully loaded. I was hoping to walk out the door for 55 K also, but I don't know if this will be a bargain M car like the 1M was. For me, a bargain M car starts at 50 K. Losing hope slowly, though. |

Seeing as BMW haven't even "officially" announced the M2 yet, how can we say it a definately getting the N55?
We all know it's coming... I'm just saying that BMW haven't even confirmed the car exists yet. |

The 1M getting the N54 was understandable given the budget/time constraints, but this time they've had years to develop the car. |

personally and i'm probably going to be way different from most people on this...
here is what i'd want for a m2 . i'd think for me, making it an accessible car lighter car for the least cost would be highest priority. i mean why not, you have the m3/m4 if people really want a leather dash, bespoke engine all this special stuff, why not offer something truly accessible and enthusiast oriented and you can do this without really expensive materials, i'd want this. 360-370hp, n55. hell even 350 would be enough, it doesnt have to be crazy either a DCT or the 8ZF tuned from the m235i racing as the 'auto' option (honestly the 8ZF programming from the m235i racing as "sport+" given it'd cost almost nothing, would be ok if it made it cost less) the wider track / suspension directly to the body like the m3/m4 with flared fenders (made from aluminum to save weight). also a aluminum trunklid / hood (cheaper than CF, and still saves a lot of weight) base no power seats (and it'd be nice if you actually saved money for this) just like a 228i can have (saves ~10 lbs per seat, and the 1M could have this). this would also cost nothing obviously for them to do. you can add back power seats if you want for $ base no moonroof (even if its not CF thats 50 lbs, they should also give you money back for this, so it shoudl be the base car). again if you want one you add $ the m-sport LSD standard (its an M car after all) some M looking 18" style Rims that look nicer than the m235i ones alcantera seats as an option. nappa as an option. base sensatech or that sport cloth from the m3/m4 better paint color options. base price of like $50k. so basically, suspension + wide track, and the base items that save weight that would cost nothing for BMW to do and retuned automatic / slightly higher tune engine. i'm not sure if this is an m2, or maybe really what my idea of what the M235 should have been, but still its my wish list. |

I would definitely order my M2 with full leather if it is an option. It makes the interior look way better in the M3 and M4.
The options I want most would be the same carbon fiber interior trim as the M3 and M4,carbon fiber roof,LED lighting,HUD and thigh extenders in the leather seats.I prefer the traditional BMW seat compared to the one they put in the new M3 and M4. Last edited by SW19; 10-07-2014 at 06:21 PM.. |

Despite pricing and intentionally limiting the power compared to the M3, this WILL be the faster car.

Have Austin Yellow available as a choice, although Long Beach Blue will probably be my first choice
6MT from M3/4 CF roof, ducktail CF trunk like M4 Aluminum hood with power dome Manual cloth seats from M3/4 3400 lb goal LED headlights available. That, metallic color, and HK will be the only options I'd want Base price of ~$51k. Don't think I'm asking for too much (I won't cry of it doesn't get CF bits or LED). If we can get what I listed, this car would be incredible. |

Most of us here are wishing for a mini M4. S55, suspension, M4 seats, M4 trans, M4 driveshaft, M4-like luxury, etc. The cost savings brought on my smaller form factor are marginal, making the margins too small for the reasonable price point. |

Full leather option would be nice, as would cloth seats as that would make everyone happy. CCB, HUD, full LED lights would be nice as options as well.
I'd like to see some of the M3/M4 technology (like Li-Ion battery, carbon fiber driveshaft, etc.) trickle down to the M2. A good selection of colors would be a great - there are only 7 choices on the M235i and 13 on the 228i. Seems BMW really focuses on darker colors these days. All of you dreaming of a new M2 are really just dreaming about a new 1M. The M2 at a 55k MSRP is not a bargain M car and never will be. The original MSRP of the 1M was around 44k and has since appreciated a minimum of 15k as a result of it's popularity. Instead of wasting your time dreaming of a new not so "budget M" use your 55K on a lightly used 1M, which will offer much better return in the foreseeable future and will forever be a classic. If you want a budget M, the M235i is your only hope

My plan is to skip a lot of options, to ED and break the under $50k barrier. Let's see if that'll be possible.
