Wink Not even a hurricane could stop my X7 from coming home!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Like so many others on here I was waiting for my ordered vehicle to arrive and I was going to post a quick picture or two when it did, but I thought my weird pickup experience warranted a bit more.

In a nutshell BMW lost the vehicle after it left the factory for over a week and no one knew where it was located . It showed that it was delivered to the dealership in BMW's system (as confirmed by multiple BMW geniuses and a supervisor), the transport company confirmed it was delivered to the dealership, and the dealership confirmed acceptance of the vehicle to the transport company… yet the vehicle wasn’t on the dealership’s lot. I found this out after 5 days of waiting (2 of those days I was in a hotel waiting to pickup the car that supposedly arrived 3 days before) when I randomly called LMR trucking with my VIN and figured out they were the transport company. When I initially questioned all three parties, they all pointed fingers at one of the other two or both. I convinced an awesome girl that worked at LMR that everyone was wrong and pleaded with her to look beyond the clearly botched paperwork so that we could find the vehicle. She thankfully called the truck driver directly to find out what was actually going on.

The truck driver confirmed that the vehicle was safely on his truck and that the truck broke down just after it left the factory . There was no way to switch out the load due to what broke in the truck so he had to just wait on parts to arrive. Hence, it was still in South Carolina one week after it “left” . Don't ask me why all the paperwork went through as if it was delivered that is a mystery I will never solve. The truck driver said his truck was being fixed that day (Monday) and he would do a straight drive starting Monday evening to get it to me the next day (Tuesday). Yayyyy!!!….then Hurricane Isaias made landfall that Monday night in the Carolinas!! I didn’t know if the vehicle was in the hurricane, ahead of the hurricane or behind it so needless to say I didn’t sleep well that Monday night. The next morning the hurricane had traveled up the coast and basically passed right over where I was staying so that was also an interesting experience to say the least

Day 3 of my hotel stay (Tuesday) and the vehicle still doesn’t arrive before COB as promised. I called for updates during the day but due to all the hurricane issues we could not get a hold of the driver for an ETA or to figure out if everything was OK. Pictures of an overturned semi with my car attached floated through my head . Now I am really concerned, and another night of wondering and speculation goes by .

Day 4, Wednesday, the hurricane had passed and the weather was perfectly beautiful. I finally got confirmation that the truck sheltered during the hurricane and the vehicle was fine and it was on its way for delivery finally. The awesome girl at the trucking company literally called me every hour to update me on the miles left for it to arrive. It finally did arrive that afternoon and I took delivery of it and just like the weather after the storm it has been beautiful so far.

to Skyrider and Bemagrp for your help along the way!

The delivery picture. I had them only remove the white film on the hood since it was going straight to detailing etc. many miles away:

Wow, what a story. And I love your new X7 M50i. The Ivory leather interior goes beautifully with Tanzanite Blue. In fact, I like it so much I'll take it. P.M. me and I'll give you my address where you can drop it off.

Excellent coverage and photos! Congratulations on the new ride!
Nah I would say they lost it after everyone (5 people) at BMW tried to convince me for 3 days that the dealership had it and that it was the dealers fault for now finding it on the lot. Then the transport company also tried to convince me it was at the dealership. Basically multiple people signed paperwork that they should not have which made the car appear to be where it was not.... I would call that lost : the fact I had to track it down myself was the frustrating part. BMW is paying for my expenses and hotel though so all's well that ends well

Finally! You have her! Unicorn build. Beautiful color. I'm so glad I went with TBII too, can't wait to see the color in person. Pics look amazing. IMO, this color is perfect on the X7. Good job getting ppf, ceramic, and tint. Not complete till you have all that.

Not that it matters but have you checked for Digital Car Key yet?

Best of luck with the Ivory seats! So hot. I went Tartufo bench just to kick my anxiety down a notch.

Can you post more of the matte wood? I went with the same and also can't wait to see that in person either. Can't wait to see more pics!!!

Congrats! I love the TB II. It is so dynamic. I picked mine up on Saturday. Bottom shot is inside while I looked the car over at delivery. It is almost black in that low light. And then top shot is outside in my driveway in medium light. The extended shadow line is a must have compliment to TB II in my opinion.

I absolutely love the color combo including the matte trim on the X7. I haven't seen the combo in person so their was a lot of anxiety over if it would all work together. You will love your TBII... zero regrets.

I don't think I have digital car key. I read somewhere if you did it would show up in the connected app under the vehicle tab but it doesn't in my case. To be honest there's a lot to go through and get familiar with and test out which I will start doing over the next few weeks.

I'll grab some more pics of the matte trim and post them for you.

Thanks brother! I am so glad we pushed through that crazy to build the fully loaded unicorn 2020s.

My kids used the RES on the way back from Chicago playing thorough the Bowers and Wilkins while my wife watched the same movie on the front screen as I had quickly done the VIM coding before we left. I was driving and using the HUD only to navigate while in autonomous mode with the seat massager on ....it was surreal, everyone was quietly enjoying the vehicle in their own way...made it all worth it

Agreed... the shadowline is a must have for TBII to look complete and the color change of TBII is spectacular.

I hear you brother. My family and I took a few short road trips and we had the same exact experience. I got my kids the BMW wireless headphones and now my wife and I can finally enjoy adult tunes or watch a real tv show or movie. Got a fire stick and chromecast hooked up and it's like being at home watching tv using the vehicle's WiFi hotspot. Amazing vehicle. You should try the back seat at night with the shades up and watching a movie. It's like being on a plane. I love this car.

Nice, I'm thinking of the same. What % was everything? How much dimmer is the sky lounge with the tint? Thanks!

55% on sunroofs and front windshield, 5% on front two and 20% on all backs. It's a little bit dimmer as expected but not significant enough to care. Anything darker would be too much.
