Thanks for the update.
I hope M3 allocation number will increase next month.
For now, it looks like I may be able to get the car sometimes end of the year

good luck!

I am a little surprised your allocations were so low. Apparently here in Houston one of the bigger dealers, but not the biggest, got 5 m3 allocations, unsure of how many m4

I will know for sure if this is real this afternoon

^^some of the larger populated areas I would imagine would get the most allocations at first however as I stated that can all change after a few months based off a variety of factors. In the e9xM days we were getting more allocations then a large majority of the dealers due to our high output. This is a good start we will see how it goes from here on out.

I was issued an Order Number, but no VIN has been issued. Does that mean my order was accepted, but my dealer didn't get an allocation yet? I called BMW status hotline. There is no scheduled production date. I'm first in line, but the dealership isn't huge.

My dealership called yesterday, they got 2 M4s in the initial allocation and one is mine! Stats code 111.

System shows May build and June 26 for delivery (which I'm guessing is an estimate).

VIN doesn't come until status 150 IIRC.

I got two take-aways after catching up on this thread:

1.) My initial estimates for total US M3/M4 production were way too low, it appears. This is very good.

2.) BMW (and potential buyers) could be in for a rude awakening when it comes to the M3 vs. M4 model mix if our thread is at all representative of the population at large. And I suspect that, if anything, the M3 will be more popular than our numbers suggest; not less so. I hope they are able to correct the numbers quickly if indeed demand is closer to 50:50 as I suspect it may be.

Guys, it looks like the 90 day allocation is national:

Quote:
BMW North America released today a special allocation for the new BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe.

This 90-day allocation strategy is something BMW adopted from the BMW i3 strategy of allocating 3 months worth of cars so there is no guessing how many cars the dealerships will get the next month. The allocation beings in July and carries through August.
I'm not sure the current allocations are for May only.

^^^ If true, that part about being able to swap M4 allocations for M3 (and vice-versa) could essentially nullify my second point in my last post. That is, assuming they can quickly adjust the production to accommodate (which I imagine they can).

The first 2 M3s at my dealer are both June production (1 week 23, 1 week 25). Meanwhile, there seems to be lots of M4s for May production.

For people who have build date (week) confirmed for their *M3* order, does anyone have May production for an M3?

Lots of people here are claiming May productions for M3s, and I'm wondering the same. If they have a hard date displayed in the system with their order.

No. That is your dealer's identifier - 21=market and 55200 is your dealer's unique ID number.

The order sheet from my dealer says A29 Silverstone Metallic but when I input the prod # to mybmw it shows black sapphire metallic. I emailed the screen shots to my dealer and they verified that they ordered A29 Silverstone Metallic.
