You definitely should have gotten the 07/2021 update OTA by now. I'm curious about the map update, though. It's been unclear whether people are actually getting map updates, though, and the "update" option in the X7 Nav section only states what the current version is, not search for anything new.

Are people actually getting map updates? (I'm still on 2020 also)
.
After over a year, I finally got a map update for my region. I went from 2020-1 to 2021-3 a few weeks ago. Since it was taking so long, I went to the dealer to see about getting an update since "free" map updates are included with the 3 yr/36k mile maintenance plan. The dealer actually tried to update it for me at my request (under warranty) but the tech screwed it up (found out as I was about to drive off). Was rescheduled to get it done again a few days later, but then "magically" my car got an OTA map update.

So I would check with your dealer if your map updates are that old.

Thanks. Will make an appointment for next month and see before my warranty expires.

I’ve gotten two map updates over the past 9 months (that I’ve noticed).

December OTA

Reset remote start capability, will try to reapply BimmerCode options later this week. DriveBMW app had step by step instructions to re-enable the remote start capability though. Minor annoyance so far.

BimmerCode will no longer connect via eNet cable. Says a connection cannot be made. Need to do some more testing (new cord, Bluetooth, etc.) before I can say it’s related to the update or not.

If others have had the same issue (or not) hoping to corroborate. Will post to the BimmerCode thread as well.

Make sure you update bimmercode to the latest version. When BMW releases new idrive version, it takes bimmercode a few weeks to update their software to be compatible.
When I got 07/2021.20 in July, I had to wait a few weeks before I got an updated version of bimmercode that would connect.

More kudos for Ben at r33_RGSport who coded my X7 remotely again today. He had done the original coding for me, most of which was wiped out by the OTA update. I made the mistake after the 03/2021 update, thinking I'd just wait a couple months for the next OTA update before recoding, not knowing that despite it being July software, it wouldn't be released OTA until DECEMBER. So from now on, I'm recoding immediately after every OTA that wipes it out. It feels like the X7 is complete again with all the features, particularly anti-dazzle, so useful here in rural Alaska and in the dark winter.

I got the notification on the phone and few days later when I wanted to install it, it was no where to be found and phone and iDrive were giving "no available updates"
At the dealer getting 11.2021.5x

You have a good dealer. Mine was at the dealer yesterday and they wouldn't even think about updating it. But that's ok, if I get a BMW again, I will purchase elsewhere. But they no doubt wouldn't care anyway. It's to bad because the salesguy is great.

Thank you. BimmerCode was and is up to date. I filed a ticket and turns out it’s an issue with iOS 15.1. Updated to 15.2 and all is resolved.

I finally got the OTA update to 07/2021-85 from 03/2021.50 about 3 weeks ago.

One thing that has changed is how the keys are recognized. Previously, the only way the profile would change to the key holder's settings was if the key holder touched/opened the driver's door handle while the key was in that person's possession.

After the 07/2021-85 update the key holder's profile settings are applied when they touch/open the passenger door handle. I do not like this functionality at all! If my wife touches/opens the passenger side door handle before I grab the driver's door handle her profile settings are applied and I have to override her settings because I'm the one driving not her.

Previously, when she opened/touched the passenger side door handle it would only unlock the car. It would NOT change to her driver profile settings. Now it does. I can't find any setting in iDrive to prevent this from happening either.

Has anyone else experienced this new behavior? I want it to work the way it did before the update which is only changing the driver profile settings when the key holder opens/touches the driver's door handle. Not when they touch/open the passenger door handle.

Exactly the same issue. Irritating to be going into the iDrive changing profiles. How do we correct that? Can we provide feedback on this upgrade?

As far as I know it can't be corrected unless BMW releases a fix for the issue.

You can provide all the feedback you want but I'm afraid it will fall on deaf ears. BMW doesn't give a rat's ass what we think about their inability to fix their poor designs, implementations, and features.

I just can't fathom why any idiot would make this a mandatory non customizable feature in their software settings.

The owner's manual reference which states we have to remove the other key fob if we don't want the car to detect that key fob is just plain ludicrous! No other automobile manufacture does this dumb ass shit.

Par for the course BMW! What idiots!

They're just trying to get us to be gentlemen and open the doors for our wives.

...or theirs are all like mine, perpetually getting ready and will never get to the car before me anyway.

True that! None the less, we all need to voice our opinions to our BMW dealers and BMW NA about this idiotic disaster of an update.

It looks like maybe they don't expect the passenger to have a key as well. Or at least, when they tested it they did not. Probably they fixed a bug where the main driver opens the passenger door first and the profile was not applied. Which created a different bug.

I am having the same problem so I have resorted to unlocking the car with my key fob to preserve my settings which is inconvenient. Stupid stupid stupid!!

I swear, sometimes it's like BMW doesn't actually have people on the X7 project that are over the age of 35, have kids, or use the thing.

X7 is the next-best thing to a BMW minivan for people with large families. So they don't allow the 2nd row captain's chairs to have a pass thru for 3rd row kids.

X7 has an abundance of features, most buried in touch screen menus. So they discontinue the 1-8 shortcut buttons.

X7 is designed to transport 6-7 passengers, so they make the seats electronic and slow and inconvenience everyone as the 1st and 2nd rows are in motion when the 7th needs to enter the 3rd row.

X7 is a tall car and hard for little ones to enter. So they don't allow the air suspension to default and stick to the lowest setting.

X7 has wireless charging for smartphones and still ship ones that overheat and disconnect smartphones when you need them most.

X7 is a soccer mom cruiser with a confusing array of features, so they get rid of the gearshift lever to make things, you know, more confusing.
