Sounds like something is broken with the release cable. You shouldn't have to push the release lever back. It's spring loaded. Do you feel any resistance when pulling the lever?

Nothing. I can pull it easy and I have to push it back and it clicks in place. 125 miles on the car and broken hood? tick tick bmw

Not sure what other options you have. I'd just call BMW Assist and let them come to you or let them make you a svc appt.
