Looks like I will be reusing the e90 winter setup!

This weekend I had a chance to test fit my previous e90's winter setup. I was sure the setup would not work due to the difference in the offsets. After test fitting the wheels, I can confirm that is does work. The rear however do poke out a bit, but since I will be running a smaller tire (225/40/18) it will stretch the sidewall. I did the car out for a spin after mounting the wheels, no rubbing was heard or anything. See pictures below.

BTW wheel specs are BMW style 189 front is 18x8, et 34, rear is 18x8.5, et 37.

Sweet. That could be a cheap alternative to new wheels for a winter see up for others. Used e90 wheels are cheap.

I test fit a set of style 264 BMW 1 series wheels today and they fit fine on my 228MSport. They are staggered 7.5" front and 8.5" rear with 49 and 52 offsets respectively. The 228 wheels are 7.5 and 8.0" with 45 and 52 offsets respectively. The fronts have about 1/2" to the strut and about the same clearance around the caliper as the stock wheels, so they may work on the 235 as well. The rears are a little wider with the same offset and have plenty of clearance. The rears will not work on the front--they hit the struts, so my winter setup will not be rotatable even though I plan on mounting 225 tires on front and rear. These wheels are readily available on the 1 Addicts forum and I found mine in the local Craigslist. Typically go for about $400/set. Good winter alternative.

Was this car driven with that setup or just fitted? I ask because when I test fitted wheels on my car I didn't see the issue until I spun the tire. I ended up with a minor scratch on my brake caliber.

This car was driven around the block. The winter wheels were mounted on
the left side of the vehicle and the stock ones were mounted on the right side. No issue during the drive.
