2014 Cobra GT500 loses to 2007 RB 335!!!

Theoretically a mismatch with the 2014 Cobra GT500 boasting 662 HP. Turns out this was NOT a mismatch at the Chicago 1/2 mile WannaGoFast runway event this past weekend. It was a great race from a dig that was dead even for the entire half mile until my car finally edged out a half car length lead at the cones. I could hardly believe I won this race since horsepower is king in these 1/2 mile races. Imagine the look on the GT500 owner's face when he lost to the lowly "non-M" 335.

Thanks to WEDGE for his awesome flash and RobC for his custom Map 6 boost settings. BMW 335 FTW!!!!!

There were 300 witnesses and an event announcer I assure you guys it actually happened LOL!!!

Unfortunately no GoPro video but the event organizers were recording video of each race and I am trying hard to get a copy of my GT500 race to post. By far the closest race I have ever run it was truly dead even until the very end.

These 1/2 mile races are awesome you finally get to see how fast your car really goes. My car was trapping over 150 MPH consistently and I had my fastest run of the day against the Cobra.

Sounds like the Mustang had no idea how to drive, if I was in the stang the BMW would not stand a chance, hard to beat 662hp, I don't care what car your in...

Bad driver, don't want to knock you off the high horse, but those cars are no joke. I run a Ford dealer and they put down some serious numbers stock, you modify them and they really wake up.

Two things to take away from that race, your car preformed great, and you proved money doesn't make you faster the driver does.

sounds like a great run.

the only thing i will say is that ive seen 660-700whp gt500s do around 140 just in the quarter mile. and i have watched them run with and hang with or beat cars that trap 138-140 in the quarter in roll races.

but hey on any given sunday all that matters is what happens when u go

Hey...I am just reporting what happened and not on any high horse whatsoever. At the end of the race there were no driver mods left it was just 2 cars winding out to the finish line and I simply got there first.

The GT500 I raced was nowhere near as fast as the cars you mentioned. For reference I lost to a Corvette ZR1 by 4 car lengths in a later race. BTW this is a perfect event for you single turbo guys!

Sounds like an awesome day, Im taking the diesel to the Texas and California mile next year...already ran the salt flats with it, lets just say it moves...

I have both the 2013 GT500 and the 335i... no way the Cobra will lose a drag race against a 335i, M3 or anything BMW can throw at it.. and this is stock.

He must have missed a gear or something.

The math doesn't add up.

660hp and over 600lb of tq at 3800lbs should walk you, unless the gearing and transmission really blows on the shelbys

660hp is just the peak hp and as such it is meaningless. What matters is the area under the curve. You will see when the video wil be released.
