Buying new 2015 335i M sport, maintenance tips?
Hello, just like title, I ordered my 2015 335i M sport. This is my first car EVER and I am clueless about maintaining a car (especially BMW). Any tips about what to do AND what not to do would be helpful.
Some of the things I read: -Don't do anything crazy during the break in period (1200 mi) -Oil change every 7.5k miles(?) -don't floor until car is warm Anything else I should know (ex: tires rotation, other filter changes, any F30 known problems, etc) and follow religiously? Also I was wondering if I have to do additional oil change or something when its very new. |

- Oil change is 10k miles
- Dont floor until car is warm - dont worry about break in period...your engine is already broken in...the tires and brakes are now...so just take it easy for the first 200 miles or so...and then have fun!

I'd follow the break in procedure outlined in the manual. It's pretty straight forward. 1200 miles of varying RPMs, no hard launches etc. The engine, chassis, moving components are definitely not 'already broken in'.
I also change my oil in between BMW's change windows which as you mentioned worked out to me changing oil the first time around 7.5k. |

1. So the term "break in" means like driving the car gently enough so that it is basically ready to show its full performance? 2. Also for the oil change, I know that I have a warranty that comes with the car. The standard oil change recommendation is every 10k, but if I want it at 7.5k for my very first oil change, does the dealer just do it for me whenever I want it?? |

Break in doesn't necessarily mean driving gently all the time. You can get on it from time to time but I wouldn't hit the rev limiter every day. I think the manual says keep it under 4k rpms when possible. Things you want to avoid are several hundred mile road trips with cruise locked to a specific speed the entire time. Or hitting your favorite drag strip and doing several 1/4 mile runs, etc...
They won't change the oil early unless you pay. If they do change early just make sure they don't reset the CBS for oil. I'm in a position where I do the oil changes myself so it's pretty easy to do a mid life oil change. Do note that many folks on here will say a mid life oil change is a waste of money. I definitely see where they are coming from but since it's something I actually enjoy doing myself I don't mind doing it. |

Never did a break in for my car. Just drove it and floored it.
I only oil change when the car tells me to. I start the car and I drive for 5 minutes and then i floor it sometimes. |
