Post Roll call

Been a little quiet in the Aus rooms lately, I'm thinking it's because there is a lack of 2ers on the road at the moment!

When are all yours arriving? I've only seen 1 out in the wild... Ever. I have a feeling the streets will explode July/August. So let's hear what you have coming and when?

2 more side questions:

- How long usually is it from docking to dealership? (Sorry if this question has been a answered to death)

- Does anyone is AUS use connected drive, how are you finding it? does it work well or as sluggish as everywhere else? Not convinced I will use it a lot, but liked the idea of remote services

Anyhow, I'm waiting on:

35i AW, Coral expected mid/late July... Longest wait of my life!

Thanks for posting!

Yep, I've had a look at that tracking system - the ship is somewhere between South Africa and AUS, docking here on approx the 15th July.

What colour did you order out and in?

35i AW and Coral too, my wait was four and a half months. Between off loading and arrival at dealership was almost three weeks. It was delivered with 7kms on the clock.

Wow! Congrats guys clearly there will be more of is on the roads soon!

I got a call from the dealership today trying to upsell tinting and paint/leather protection.

No way I'm going for the leather protection, but the tinting sounds decent... Anyone have experience with this? She spoke a lot about door sills damaging easily, other companies not providing workmanship guarantee etc.. Not that I buy into all of that, but $850 for all windows (Sans front of course)

What have you guys done? Or are you doing?

Nice! I've seen none with this combination except for the American build which has a different Red that I'm not so keen on! How are you finding it? Any chance you can post up some pics of the interior?

Any excuse to show of my car will do! The first few were pre-delivery when it arrived at the dealer, hence the plastic on the seats.

Can I ask where you got your bumper, kidneys done, was it very expensive? Or was it a DIY job?

Kidneys are M Performance Grill from SouthernBM, and the bumper was done by Tint-a-car. DO NOT USE THEM! The workman ship is awful and I ended up removing the wrap a few days later. I want to find another company that is experienced at vinyl wrapping.

Have been looking up tinting recently for my girlfriend's new car and the top notch ones will be half the price or less of that factory install price. I would also be tempted for that piece of mind but it's a huge price difference!

EDIT: most of them also come with a lifetime warranty.

Thanks for the heads up! I think eventually I'm going to go for the front splitter, it's just a bit too costly to do right away. Do any of the online shops from OS ship to Australia? How do people source their own parts usually?

I've done a fair bit of reading on this so many horror stories and warnings against doing this after delivery, no one real consensus about where to get it done in Melbourne, pretty scary, might just opt out of tinting all together!

I haven't got a 2-series but now that I see the M2 is going into production I know what my future car will be! (Provided it comes to Australia)

I've had my M235i since 10th of April. Apart from the dealership, I'm yet to see one on the streets? People ask what my car is... I tell them 2 series BMW and they're like "huh? what's that?" lol

FYI Plasti dipped black wheels and mirror caps

@BenWM Haven't taken the car yet, but it is at the dealership - going to pick it up tomorrow... it's going to be a long night, think I might be your first twin on Melbourne streets - what suburb are you guys all driving in, i literally still haven't seen ANY! Any new mods to the car? did you get the plastic wrap redone on the bumper?

@hsk26 the car looks awesome best grey i've seen actually , you should post some close ups of both the wheels and caps? Did you get this done at the dealership and how much was it? I think after a colour match diffuser, skirts, splitter would look ace (or maybe too much, would have to see it)!

@jaffa12 haha what other colour would you get! I suggest the brown interior and slight orange scent for in the car! (kidding, seriously.. don't do that). Congrats man and welcome to the club

No I haven't had it redone yet, however I've booked it in for next week with Grafico in North Melbourne.

I'm in the inner-Southeast, so I'm always up and down Kingsway, Queens Road, the City and anywhere around South Melbourne, Prahran and South Yarra. What about yourself?

Hey - so i picked up my car on Monday - stock as a rock at the moment but I'm ok with that.. loving the ride just the way it is (for now)

Only driven for 2 days and not very far either just in and around the city... as my first real performance car though I really couldn't ask for anything more! Will take some pics soon but really it's the same as @BenWM 's car. I'd usually be driving around the city, East Melbourne and North side of the city

I did opt in the connecteddrive option in the car (pic of the loaded app below) and for those who are wondering, we get all options in OZ excluding the horn (which IMO is the most useless function of them all) the lag time is probably about 30sec for locking and climate etc - apps work well integrated with iDrive

If you travel to random destinations a lot, having the 'send directions via Google' to the car is a pretty good feature.

Just thought i'd mention all that because no one else has from what i've read
