Arrow EU to US tail light swap...

A good friend of mine just took delivery of his brand new M4. The car's color is Sakhir Orange. The yellow turn signal lens just look weird, so my buddy switched over to US tail lights.

The EU tail use a yellow lens with a yellow bulb & reflector. The US lens use a red lens with a yellow bulb. The US bulb even looks like a different design(long and thin bulb).

Here are some pics...

Cool!
But how does it look when you turn the blinkers on with the yellow bulb and US spec red turn signals in what color does it blink?

Did you watch the video ? The light looks yellow to me.

w/o the amber(yellow) aftermarket LED's the light would be red. That would be a no go for the German TUV and Polizei over here in Germany.

Looks good, might be an alternative if no black lines are available.
Got the part numbers?

The US spec lights were 400 euros(for the pair) over here thru a German BMW dealer. US dealers can not order EU BMW parts... so order the EU parts from a EU dealer that will ship them worldwide.

Someone like: Schmiedmann.com

The Europeans will want US lights, and the fellas from the US will want European lights. My mother had an SL500 when she lives in the US. She imported it to Europe, where it was sold a few years later to a chap in Norway. Since the US lights had to be swapped to European lights when she imported the vehicle, we just gave the new owner the US lights also since they were useless to us. Guess what: even though the European headlights looked nicer, he still swapped them to the US ones because it would look "different".

+1. Yup, the EU guys LOVE our orange US head lights and red rear turn signals. The grass is always greener on...

So if you swap out the EU rear lenses for the all red US variants, do you have to change to US turn signal bulbs?

You shouldn't have to, the bulbs should be altready installed, basically it plug and play. I have a set of like new U.S. lenses for sale if anyone is interested. Fran. May even be listed it classifieds from a while ago. Fran

No. The US turn signals are RED. So IF that is a problem... do what my friend did... and buy some yellow LED turn signal bulbs. (see video).
