n54 trouble

A few days ago while i was driving the car hard i noticed this rattling noise upon moderate acceleration. At first i thought it was my ac but it still rattles with our without it being on. The noise sounds like a tin can filled with pennies. When my speed increases the rattleing increases. It only dies down if i completely let off the throttle and let the rpms drop down. That is terrible, and I have no idea what that would be. Have you had anyone look at it yet?

Without any more info. My best guess is one of the cats is rattling. Post mods to help us narrow it down. Take it in to a mechanic if you need it as a daily driver or aren't very mechanically inclined. You shouldn't drive it until you have it figured out incase it is a bearing.

Its wierd because at idle everything sounds normal. I can even drive around town and everything and not a peep. I dont get any codes or anything but as soon as i have an opportunity to give it some gas, for example, getting onto an onramp that awful noise comes up. The noise certainly amplifies the faster i go.

Sounds harsh, check all exhaust fittings on bottom? Could be rattling under load? Cats could be another possibility, just throwing some ideas. Good luck, please keep us posted.
