OBD Readiness/Emissions

Hi everyone, i've been trying to get set for my emissions appoinment with no success. I'm using the BMS Dp Fix, and have it set at it's minimum, yet still getting the codes 2C32 and 2C6A. I just completed a 45 mile drive cycle and the codes did not appear until I parked the car back in the driveway.

Anyone have some advice?

Set at minimum meaning 11pm? That disables the DP Fix essentially.

Based on the BMS instructions, you should start around 5. See pic above, and read the text in the picture.

So does anyone know how V1 DPfix works? I just bought one used for sheckles so I figured why not try it out with emissions coming up. I don't think you can adjust it but otherwise it's the same product I think? Someone with better systems control knowledge educate me.

Tried at 5PM as directed, kept running drive cycles and lower the setting toward 11PM one click at a time. Each drive cycle would continue to pop 2C32 and 2C6A errors. I will try 10PM again, I may have forgotten to reset adaptations sometimes, which may be the culprit.

I don't own a DPFix so I'm basing this on their picture, but I'd recommend increasing the strength, so start at 5, and work to 4-3-2, etc.

I think you're turning DOWN the strength of the unit, so it's not helping any.

To reset adaptations I would use menu 1-7 in the JB4. Seems to work well, except I always need to individually reset the throttle adaptation via Start button and Gas Pedal afterwards.

The codes I receive indicate that the DP Fix setting is too high and needs to be lowered. I have not gotten the codes which indicate the settings are too low and need to be raised.

I won't have time until tonight to try another drive cycle, hopefully "10 O'clock" will work. I need to be precise when I clear codes and reset adaptations. Overall this is a ridiculous task, I wish it worked on the stock setting.

when you do the 1-7 do you do it with the car on or off, but with the key in ignition? and why do you need to reset throttle adaptaion?

I've been doing the reset 1-7 option with the car off, key in ignition and press the START button once. I have to reset the throttle, because I always have a problem starting the car after resetting the adaptations. Engine will rev between 1k-1500 rpm consistently, and the gas pedal is completely unresponsive. Shut off car and manually reset the throttle adaptation to remove the problem.

...it takes me about 10 minutes to actually leave the house in the morning trying to get this stupid emissions readiness all set.

is this how you do the throttle adaptation?

1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.
2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter turns over. BMW: press start button – foot off brake - all idiot lights on.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position. BMW: All idiot lights on.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off position". BMW: foot off brake press start button - all idiot lights now off (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
5. Wait a full 2 minutes for a full electronic alignment. Don't remove the key.
6. Start engine, drive the car, notice the difference.

or is it different with the jbr installed?

Why are you selecting these settings? The DIY clearly states the 5 o'clock works for most people. Its set to 5 by default and I plugged it in once and it was fine. I never had to tinker with anything.

I ran it at 5 O'clock from the very beginning, and through the drive cycle it threw up the 2 error codes stating the setting is too high. I've been lowering the setting and redoing the drive cycle as recommended. Unfortunately each lower setting has yet to make it through the drive cycle without repeating the codes and setting off the SES light.

The manual throttle adaptation reset is exactly as you described. The JB4 version is simply pressing a few buttons to reset the computer. My car doesn't seem to like that, so I always have to follow up with manually resetting the throttle.

V1 is non-adjustable and does not work with most 08.5+ cars from what I understand...

Ah. Well fak

The E88 is a 4/08 build so it's right in the danger zone. Only one way to find out I guess.

Driving around with DP Fix set at 10 oclock, I have 2C31, 2C32, and 2C6A. This is the first time 2C31 has shown up, so I suspect I may actually be making progress. I had not completed the full drive cycle, so we'll see if these codes disappear after a complete drive cycle.

I can't imagine the DP Fix is actually set too high since it is now at the minimum. I confirmed that all the wires are plugged in correctly. After this drive cycle, if no success I will uninstall, clear codes and drive around, then re-install and start from scratch beginning with a lower than normal setting.

UPDATE:

Completed a full drive cycle last night beginning with the SES light active for the following 3 codes: 2C31, 2C32, 2C6A. At the conclusion of the drive cycle the errors are still in effect.

Options:
1) Clear Codes, reset adaptations, begin new drive cycle with DP Fix still at 10 o'clock.
2) Remove DP Fix, clear codes and run a drive cycle to see what codes show up normally. THEN reinstall, clear codes, reset adaptations and set DP Fix to 10 oclock.
3) Same as option 2, but set DP Fix to factory preset 5 o'clock

Any other suggestions?

Newest update:

I have removed the DP Fix to hopefully let the computer reset itself a bit. Running on Map 0, Autoclear OFF. Only about 40 miles since removing the DP Fix, no SES light, but I still show 2 codes: 2C32 and 2C6B. I did not reset adaptations after removing the DP Fix, but I did unhook the battery.

Any advice before reinstalling the DP Fix and starting from the weakest setting? I'd like to get the car to only show the usual cat conversion codes (which it has not yet) and begin emissions prep from that point.

I am wondering if installing the DP Fix directly into the DME rather than the JB4 harness could be better? Just to confirm, the yellow wires in positions 19 and 20, which should have numbers and which should be solid yellow with dots?

Alright, I hate to be the guy bumping up all these old threads. But any update on this OP? Did you find a solution to get the emission readiness done?

Been having similar problems, seems like these cat codes are major pain to deal with.

I removed the DP Fix, reset the codes and drove around to set the readiness. After maybe 60 miles I drove in for the emissions test (without a DP Fix installed) and passed first try.

My car did not trip a catless code until roughly 300-350 miles of driving. It seems possible to pass emissions with a brief window between clearing codes/setting readiness and the car sending a trouble code. Good luck
