Connection failing / BMW Apps not working but USB audio works?
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here, I have an M235i with the Tech Pkg and am using an iPhone 5S on the latest firmware (7.1.2) and can't seem to make this work.
Plugging in the phone via USB lighting cable (Apple original, tried another cable as well) will get it to show up under the External Devices area and I can access playlists, play songs, etc but can't get the BMW Connected App to work and none of the Apps are showing up under BMW Online. I tried to do the Diagnostic Test and it fails every time. I also tried the M Laptimer and that also does not show up under Vehicle Info. I saw a video on YouTube that showed once you connect the phone and open the app, it's supposed to show a connecting screen on the iPhone? That doesn't happen either. Any ideas? Thanks. |

I don't think it could be that because the Connection Assistant should be in the menu even when nothing is plugged in. That's how I figured it was working, got in the car and the last screen up was the ConnectedDrive menu. All of a sudden I noticed the Connection Assistant was part of the list.

That wasn't it though because in the ConnectedDrive menu, the BMW Apps sections was completely missing...
For some strange reason, it appeared last night. I wonder if the car had to get some sort of activation over the air from BMW? Because the Sat radio also started working. |

It's been working great since it started working...not sure what the initial holdup was but all is good.
It's damn stupid though how the BMW Connect app has to be open all the time though, you can't even lock the phone to shut off the screen. Plus, if you make or receive a phone call, it exits the app and you have to manually open it again. Jeez, who programmed this app? |

Ah...I has nothing to do with WIFI but with the fact you were inside the garage...
It connects through 3G so won't work very well inside buildings |
