What mode are you using? There's a significant difference in ride quality (firmness) between the Comfort mode and Sport modes. And then there's the road surface itself

It would feel like a boat if you're used to riding around in a shopping cart.

Those are the bump stops, they are supposed to be there

I would get your car checked. It's not supposed to feel like that at all.

Hi, I am Dennis from HK too.

The M235i suspension is a bit stiff on bumpy road in HK, you will feel very strong force to pull you up and down, but the shock absorption of the damper is very good, you will not feel very hard landing. It is not feeling like a boat, just may feel the car make you strong shaking up and down.
May be the road in HK is too bad. In general, it is OK and acceptable to me. It is quite close to my previous KW DDC suspenson in sport mode.

Hi, this is Jonathan and I am from HK too.

Schumy, keep us (in HK) posted once you have your car checked. I also find my M235i a bit bumpy compared to my previous 335i.

If your 335 was an e90 with sport package, that car had a very rough suspension and the difference is huge between the m235 and that. IMO the suspension on my 335 was terrible and too rough on city roads

I want to clarify the m235 suspension bounces and swings (ie not just jumps up and down but from side to side too if say just one side of the wheels go over a bump).

It is however not stiff (unlike the A45 for example).

The best way I can describe it is that it feels sort of like riding in a boat.

Could be a lose suspension or weld if your description is accurate.
Dealer tech will put car on lift and check suspension joints near the wheels and then work his way up to the body attachments. They will then probably put on an alignment machine and chk for specs. At some point they will test drive and maybe even load car with additional techs to chk loaded suspension.
Also may get bmw involved - do take car in as soon as possible.

Ask your dealer to let you take another one out for a test drive - if it rides the same, it's pretty certain your car is within spec.

i tested my friend's 235 last night which feels pretty much the same so i think it is not unique to my car.

tried to play around with the tire pressure, which turns out that my tires were underinflated (less than 31psi). i changed to 34 front and 35 rear and the car now feels more "solide" and less bouncy.

The rear should be 38 minimum if they are Michelin Pilot Super Sports and front and rear should be higher if you drive over 100 which might be hard to do in Honk Kong ( been there about 20 times).

glad u got it sorted out, but i thought underinflated would give the car a more planted feel?

Randy Probst said this was the best bmw in 10 years. His only real criticism was that the suspension has "too many secondary motions".

It kind of bothered me at first too, but I'm used to it now.

The car is so fast, well balanced and confidence inspiring that I can deal with it.
