How to get software upgrade

How can I get my dealer to do a software upgrade on my m5 f10 these cars have been out for nearly 3 years now so they must have some software improvements for the earlier cars I have noticed the idrive has changed recently on the new cars

In my experience they will only update your software to solve a problem, they do not routinely update.

The newer generation of navigation system requires a hardware upgrade, however the maps can be updated.

I took my 13 M5 into the dealership last Tuesday just to get the update downloaded. Because there was nothing wrong with the car, I had to pay $135 to get the update.
