Escort 9500ix Hardwired in F10

I just completed this DIY yesterday. So happy not to have the damn power adapter wire dangling all over the place.

I used the F10 V1 Hardwire Video as well as this DIY guide below.

I used the video for a nicer reference guide but the only difference from the video is that I did not use the bolt to get ground. I used the tutorial below and tapped the wire leading to the sunroof.

Here is the DIY Guide:

Here are some pics of my setup:

The radar detector is installed on the mirror using the Blend Mount device.

I installed the SmartCord on the upper left hand side so that it is easy to reach and out of the way. I used the double sided velcro tape to mount it. If anyone is concerned about the flashing LEDs, you can flip the visor down which will block it from any po po behind you. Looks great imo.

Here is what the total setup looks like:

The only issue I ran into was that the tap to get the power was not perfect so I had to tap the wire again. It still was not perfect but I put the cover back on and it has been working fine every single time <crossing fingers>

Let me know if anyone has any questions.

btw. the green/brown wire was not shiny like the pics and video. Same goes for the ground wire in the back.

@virtualbong, i just ordered my 9500ix. does the hardwire cable and the smartcord come with the detector? or did you gave to but it separately?

also, just wondering. is there any reason i cant use some velcro or double sided tape and mount the detector to the top of the mirror? seems like a pretty good spot for it and more out of the way.

You have to purchase it separately.

You can definitely do that but I didn't want the tinted part of the windshield to diminish the strength of the detection. I would do a test run first to make sure the detection is still strong. If it works, the 3M double sided velcro is strong enough to keep it in place up there. Take some pics if you end up going that direction.
