air is scooped from the FRONT of the engine bay hence cooler air, you will notice car responds better from stand still and performs WAYY better at 70 mph or more

That's been around for ages. Does the D air box identically replicate the i air box?

Stock air box is still in place, OPEN your hood and look at the intake scoops below the air channels you will see that air is comes from the radiator area, with the scoops the air comes from front of the radiators.

Agreed, after testing it did nothing for power, same with aftermarket filters, no real gains, there are tons of threads on these scoops and filters, most of the time the filters just mess with the sensors, I have friends with the scoops, they do look cool...

I installed mine mostly for the look, figuring they wouldn't hurt performance. As for the "testing," if this was done on a dyno I wouldn't expect any performance increase, as there is no increased air flow because the vehicle is not moving.

Siding with Amigo Axel on this one. My buddy slapped the scoops on this spring and the car launches forward like an untamed beast. Said he saw a +5 HP on the dyno too.

Its a turbo charged car the air is already being force feed to the engine, on an NA car maybe, turbo car no way, placebo effect, they do look cool and I'm not putting them down, read some threads on it, the opinions get heated, lol...

I've got them tbh but in black look stupid in red, most diesels run on excess air if you know what I mean.

I remember asking Stan if he'd seen any difference on the dyno with them he hasn't had one on dyno other than mine but did say that aftermarket air filters do nothing for performance.

I have the Cybas. Has cash laying around so why not. Whether it does somthing is a 50/50. But they please me aesthetically. Also I believe these are a replacement for the 90 bend on top of the bumper. The part the Cyba Scoops attaches too.

Should be easy to measure the impact of these on temps.

With BMWhat, Torque, Bavarian Technic etc. you could measure and record the intake temps at the MAF (air temp post filter) before/after install and compare to the air temp the car measures for its ambient and look at the delta. I usually see ~1-3 F higher temps at the MAF than ambient.

Of course, even if it's a few degrees different at the MAF, the air will still get heated up as it flows thru the turbos, and then it flows through the intercooler. The IAT probe is post intercooler and the temp there is what is going into the cylinders (assuming the EGR is not letting in HOT exhaust gas ... which will heat up the air dramatically).

Since at speed the air flow and pressure in the kidney/grill/radiator area where the intake air comes from would be so high I'd be surprised if the heat from the radiator is affecting intake temps (hence the ~1-3 F delta in temps at the MAF vs ambient). I'm inclined to think the only thing those scopes will do is add weight and block air flow over the radiators so the engine will have a more difficult time shedding heat when its being run hard...

But the data would prove one way or the other if it does help. I'd like to see the data.
