F80x vs F40

For those who happen to be cross shopping the two....

C&D tested the Ferrari F40 in 1991 and the performance numbers are very similar the M3/4:

4.2 to 60
8.3 to 100
1/4 mile 12.1 @122
1.01g on the pad

The F40 is 600 lbs lighter and gets abysmal gas mileage but whatever.

I remember 23 years ago reading about this hyper-car that could smoke a Testarossa and Countach. Never did I imagine us mortals could own a car that has this much power and grip such as the F8x. Oh, and the price of that '91 F40....just under $400k.

Sorry, but the F40 still smokes an F8X M3/4. Epsecially at higher speeds.

That being said, it is still amazing the performance that is now available on street cars.

But the drivers and conditions were different in each of the tests, otherwise M3/4 might actually achieve better track times

Tyres!!!

Throw the 20Y old F40 tyres of today and do another performance test then you will see how much faster it really is.

Dyno test in Japan has shown the F40 to actually have in excess of 500hp.

F40 = arguably the greatest supercar of all time (it is for me).

F80 M3/4 = Just another good M car.

Really no comparison.
