UPDATE!!! German tuner LEIB Engineering cracked the F-series DME last week!!!
I have been in touch with German tuner LEIB Engineering ( http://www.leib-engineering.de/ ) after their Facebook update last week about finally being able to tune the BMW F-series cars.
They have confirmed via email to me that they last week cracked the DME (or rather "found a way") and are now able to tune any F-series BMW!!! The first car they managed to tune was a M235i that was tuned to 400hp just by software modifications. These are some of the things they can do (on ALL F-series):
The tuner is based in Germany, so it might not be available for all the US members on this forum. EDIT: This is the latest developments regarding DME software modifications from LEIB Engineering: They are now able to ship already tuned DME’s to customers. At present time this currently only available for all N55 and S55 engines. M5/M6 will be the next. It will be finished in the end of September. Completely opened Vmax, deleted CEL and more is possible. The first tunes are:
The customer can keep his own DME. They can now ship the already tuned DME directly to the customer. All they need is some basic info of the car, in order to flash the correct base software. They have also lowered the price AFAIK - Last edited by Boss330; 08-20-2014 at 02:30 PM.. |

I'm not sure that E85 tuning is that big in Germany...
Also, they claim to have opened up this generation DME only last week, so I think we will have to wait a bit for more evidence here... So far, all I have is their word for it via email (but that might change ) |

i do agree. I rather have a flash over a piggyback thou. All these threads saying that they broke it is giving false hope.

Then what makes this an adverse way to tune a car verse say ODB2, granted you aren't drilling into a part, and or taking your ecu out for days/weeks rendering your vehicle a paperweight.

Wow this comes from a well regarded tuner... Have loved what they've done on prior m3 projects and have extracted a lot of power from their tuned s65s
