M4 M Performance Front Splitter installation

Got mine today, there were instructions included which are clear as mud. The instructions identifies all the hardware with letters, however my hardware packet has the packets numbered. That's my first dilemma.

My instructions start with page removing clips from the engine shield. Are there steps to access this above shield?

It also references the use of Betalink adhesive, which I am familiar with, but no where in the sales literature on the web site, did it indicate Betalink was required.

I have been successful in the past installing most add ons to my BMW's, but I am either getting to old for this or my mind just can't wrap itself around these instructions.

I guess what I'm asking will there be a DIY video or step by step instructions so that mere mortals can break the code and end up with a successful installation.

I figured I would go home remove a few bolts, add the new parts and be on my way, instead I will go home and pour myself a tall one and await further guidance from someone in the know.

I wouldn't use betalink if you plan on removing it in the near future. It's very hard to get off paint, use 3M double-sided tape instead.

Thanks Tom, that's one issue solved.

Also the instructions indicates in figure F82 0016V to "transfer the drill holes (1) from the bottom adapter G using a 3 mm diameter drill bit to the front apron (2) and carbon fiber add-on section A." I know what they are telling me to do but the illustration shows 7 holes to be drilled, but my adapter G has 4 holes, perhaps a change in the part, not reflected in the instructions. IDK WTF and eieio

Found the image you are referencing on PG16.

Haven't had a chance to install the F8X version, but have installed a few F3X units which install in a similar fashion.

Were you provided 4 or 7 screws that correspond to the 4 holes in adapter G? If 4, there may have been a revision that the instructions do not reflect.

Hi Tom, there are 4 holes on each side, 8 screws are required, I have 12 of the same in the packet, I suspect the remaining 4 are used elsewhere in the installation. The hardware packets are identified by numbers and not the letters as indicated in the instructions, which adds to the confusion, but easily figured out. I suspect once I get the car up on a lift it will make more sense, I am rereading the instructions and they are beginning to make a little more sense, but certainly not crystal clear. Wondering i fthere are a revised set of instructions regarding the reconfigured parts and subsequent installation. Thanks for your input.

The instructions seem to reference 6 per side. We'll know more once we can get ours installed when supply catches up.

From what I understand the M3 and M4 use the same part, I could be wrong.

I have done this. Some of the holes are drilled for you already. The rest, you will find smaller printed circles with a "2" beside it. You have to drill those holes yourself. That should give you the 7 aside, 6 using one type of screws and 1 using another type.

I mounted the CF splitters using betalink, as it was very, very hard to get the 3M tape in there. But then again, I also mounted it on 3M Venture Shield. My recommendation is to only use tape for the top part of the splitters. For the bottom, you will have a total of 4 screws holding it in place per each side.

Yes. Full hood. Full front bumper. I wrapped the splitters myself and put black vinyl on the leading edge of the front and side aprons as well.

I think I saw the answer around the forum already but I could not find it anymore. It is possible to install only the splitter without the lip right?

Hi Redfox - So installation required drilling 4 holes into the CF Splitter?

I figured I would go home remove a few bolts, add the new parts and be on my way, instead I will go home and pour myself a tall one and await further guidance from someone in the know.

I went ahead and wrote my own write up here:
