Help needed
Hi all. Posted a thread before detailing the spec for my new 320d m sport coming on 1st september & introduced myself.
Me & the dealer agreed that supaguard, service inclusive & gap insurance would be thrown in free as part of deal. I was looking through my invoice for the car & have now noticed i've been charged as follows: supaguard - £474.00, service inclusive - £425.00 & gap - £724.00 Im an idiot for not seeing this on the day but my mind was busy taking in all the information (1st time buying new car). Im meeting dealer tomorrow so just wanted to know what you think my approach should be? if he wont give the 3 things for free can anyone recommend. a company for gap (i know £724 is a massive rip off) & also tell me if service/supaguard is worth it? Sorry for long essay lol, thanks in advance everyone! |

For those prices I'd be tempted to take it to a proper detailer for the paint prep and get gap insurance at half the price at an online broker's. It could be that the 724 is shown on the invoice but have given extra for your part ex or worked it into the figures somewhere

Have you any proof, email etc that these were thrown in as part of deal?
Best bet is to be straight and direct, ask why was the deal you agreed not followed. I am surprised Gap was included, as this comes from Financial services and actually requires separate details etc. Supra guard for the price no. You can get a good Gtechniq detail carried out for that. Gap, frank pickles, ala, car2cover, plenty decent threads on gap. As a minimum they should drop the gap, you do not have the car yet so time to drop it. Supra guard, again you do not have car, so should be able to drop it. |

Can't see that being a problem, also 725 is bloody high for it. |

The gap is a serious rip off at that price!
But as said above, the cost of these may been taken off the purchase price, or added to your trade in. I think they get a bonus for selling those items, so this way it looks like they sold them to you rather than giving them away. |

Yep. In sales, you are incentivised on all sorts of things. A company might say to a salesman, hit £100,000 in sales of widgets and you'll get £1000 commission but sell a £100 warranty with each widget and you get £25 extra. So the sales person always throws the warranty in but shows it as full price to get his bonus.
