335d Engine shut off by itself question

Hi Guys
after driving for about 30 minutes i left the car running while parked for about 10 minutes (i wasn't inside the car ) and the engine suddenly shut off by itself . Did anyone experience this before ? I turn the car on and left it to run on idle for another 7 to 10 minutes and it did it again ?!? ..weird..
please help !

Thanks

Do you have Comfort Access and left the car running without a key?

Well, this just happened to me this morning.
I have comfort access. Keys were in pocket.

While I was turning into a parking spot at work, the car just shut off on me. All lights were still on, music playing, etc.

I simply put gear in "P" and pressed the start button again, and it fired right back up.

No codes in the system, as I immediately checked with BMWhat.

Sounds like an NHTSA recall!

Could it happen if key fob battery runs out. Seems like that should have been part of their risk assessment. I have comfort access and will try pulling the battery from my key fob and see if I get a shutdown.

Both my fobs are charged.
Regardless, once car is started, it's possible to drive without the key fob near the car; just wont be able to turn car back on without it.

This is a very strange problem, better not happen while I'm making a turn at a light!

I should bring this to the attention of BMW Engineering.

Did BMW ever find a resolution to this?
I can reference your PUMA case, it should open their eyes a little bit.

Maybe not a diesel issue, but more of a BMW issue.

Interesting thread

I also had this happen once a few months ago???
I also just restarted car, and have had no issues since, Although it was a nerve racking ride home
I too suspected a fuel problem, so I decided to change the fuel filter. I did not have any codes either.

This just happened to me last week in a parking lot as I was slowing down to stop before turning onto the street. Can you PM me the PUMA case history?

I'm gonna go on a tangent here, but do you know what was the status of your DPF, how long ago has it been regen'ed. The reason I ask is because it has happened to me before, once. Walking speed, coming to a stop sign and then boom, shut down, no codes, nothing. But, I know that this was when I had just discovered a really plugged SCR after my DPF delete and urea still spraying. I was running really high exhaust back pressure as a result. As such, my thought is along the lines of the DPF being really full with higher exhaust back pressure. May be?
