Insurance after ED

For the folks that have done ED. I faintly remember my SA telling me that after my ED is done and when the car arrives back in port of Halifax, that I need to have insurance ready to go for the car. Not for when the car is picked up at the dealership.
Am I remembering this correctly or am I totally wrong?

I got the same message. They told me as soon as the car hit Canadian soil that insurance was my responsibility. I am currently paying my premiums as I await delivery...

This is not totally true as the car is not in your custody and most likely the shipper would be liable for any damage. But, to be safe, it is a good idea as if there is damage, especially if it is substantial, it is easier to deal with your insurer and have them go after the at fault party.

There is no point in paying for insurance until car gets to Canada as Canadian policies normally only cover things that happen in Canada or the USA.

Just go a response from my SA. According to him, insurance is NOT required until I pickup the car from the dealership.
