Tuning Box / Chip compatibility with MPPK

Hi guys,

I have a 2014 F30 320d which has the same N47 motor found in the 328ds in US. I have the M Performance Power Kit (MPPK) which consists of a new performance oriented ECU and a larger intercooler. The new claimed figure by BMW is 147 kw & 420 Nm. I'm kinda satisfied for now but looking forward to bump up the power further in the next couple of months.

Now the question is, will there be any issues if I mate the MPPK with a box like RaceChip or Hartage? Has anyone tried mating MPPK with a tuning box before?

This is interesting since I myself am thinking about get a tuning box, and I have the mppk for the same engine.

Have you got a tuning box installed yet? If so, is there any difference power and fuel consumption wise?

Thanks!

MPPK

Hi,
Also interested in T/Box with MPPK but would like Info. on MPPK from AdiSinghV12 and Fille.
What was your process that put MPPK on your car.
The photo indicates it was delivered. If so did you order it and from who. How was it installed.
What was a rough pricing.
Was it a case of going through your BMW Dealer, Order, Pay X amount, Have it installed and get BMW Warranty.
You mention ECU and larger Intercooler but not a Fan upgrade. Were they happy with your existing Fan as I think maybe the 25d and 28d might have bigger Fans.
I was considering a Chip from tdituning after my Warranty runs out Dec.2014 but it would be of interest to consider MPPK through BMW with a New/Extended/Negotiated Warranty.
Any Info. Help would be appreciated. Cheers.

The ECU you see in the pic was the stock ECU which they gave me back after installing the MPPK ECU. I had ordered it before I picked up the car so it was pre installed at the time of delivery. The cost out here was approximately USD 2050 inclusive of all the taxes and installation charges.

The slight turbolag that was there has been eliminated after this and unlike stock 320d / 328d, the car doesn't run out of juice at speeds above 150 kmph.

Regarding the fan, I'm not too sure but I think it was upgraded as well. (Y)

Hey there, not yet but I'm strongly considering putting the RaceChip Ultimate. I'm not too sure how effective would it be as Ictus pointed out but somebody's gotta do it to find out how the actual scene is...

To Chip or Not to Chip.

Hi AdiSinghV12,
Thanks for reply even though I'm a bit off subject.
Concerning the MPPK I have been told parts for that suiting 3 Series 90/91/92/93 also suit my X1 20d.
Unfortunately BMW cant compute outside 320d but have Parts - AUD$ - Inter Cooler 850.00 and 600W Fan (up from 400W) 1,558.00 that are supposed to suit. Hugh price differences here. They didn't comment on ECU.
Looks like it might be wise to put better Inter Cooler and Fan on mine before chipping. Will look at Pricing elsewhere.

With your MPPK there was also an option of a Performance Silencer. Did you or you Fille put this on your car as well?
There is a Review of the MPPK and BMW 320d Performance Silencer on showcars.co.za
Good luck with your Tuning decisions. Keep informed.

Hey GTony, sorry for the late reply! 1558 AUD just for the intercooler and fan is quite a lot!! But as you mentioned yourself it'd be wise to put better intercooler and fan if you plan to chip / tune your ride as the car will tend to heat a lot more once chipped / remapped.

For those of you who want to save money you can buy an analog of the intercooler that comes with PPK. Valeo 818261.

Okay folks so I have done around 2000 kms on my F30 as of now and planning to give it it's next and probably final performance bump. Will be mating the M Performance Power Kit ECU with either RaceChip Ultimate or DieselTronic box from RaceDynamics (Indian, link to the product: http://racedynamics.in/products/dieseltronic)
