Update on E92 bluetooth installation
So I picked up my car today from the installer. Took them two days (10 hours) to install the Parrot system (their first time on an E92) and I must say I am impressed. I can use the talk button on the steering wheel to initiate a conversation and change to discreet mode (using handset instead of speakers. The whole system is hidden except for a mic by the driver visor. It is nice and clear to talk and listen, allows voice dial to anyone in my phone book (feature on my blackberry pearl) and allows digit dial. It rings and silences the stereo system when a call is incoming too.
The only thing is I do not know how to hang up a conversation. They said tap the button twice or hold it down but neither works so I may have to use my handset to end a call or just have other person hang up all the time. Anyone else have this set up?

no i did not have it from factory but they pt the prewire in 07 335s so the steering wheel had the talk button ready to go. Parrot is the brand.

What model do you have? do you have a seperate display for caller ID or it shows up on the radio display?

So this is a Parrot 3000 evolution? Why not, for $30 more, do a Parrot 3100 with a display?

I've had the 3100 installed here in the UK and it required an interface cable from connects2 to get the buttons to work. Works really well and a much simpler solution for non BT cars.
I got my installed in <2 hours and cost £200 all in - so a little suprised yours cost as much as you said. I hang up a conversation by pressing the button below the talk button (but this may be unique to the connects2 interface) |

If you mount the LCD display from the 3100 anywhere in view, it will attract criminals and it doesn't look good anyway. |

I have this kit installed in my car also.
Like Steve (also from UK) I paid approx £180 (360 USD) and it took them about an hour and a half to install the lot. I have had the press-button unit hidden in the ashtray, so with the lid closed the car looks factory. Because I wanted a factory look I specifically didn't want anything on show, which meant a unit with a display was a bit pointless. I'm also using a steering wheel interface adapter (unsure of make/model) but I can hang up a call using the button that looks like a telephone handset (bottom right hand button on left steering wheel spoke).

Note that you don't strictly need a display for this: I've used a Mot IHF1000 with spoken caller-ID announcement and it seemed to be a perfectly acceptable alternative. |
