Urgent Help needed for a newb in London/Kent

Morning all.

So over the bank holiday, the nice new car gave me a heart attact and threw a limp mode error at me twice. Both times, I stopped, let the car cool abit and when i turned it back on the error was gone.

Now, i've booked it into BMW for tomorrow, but as is their way they want £100 just to plug it in.

Is anyone local, willing and able to read this code for me, i would be greatly appreciated. Long term, i will definitely be getting a basic coding set up, (car is 2007, so BMWhat app is not really an option), but for now, anyone out there willing to save me a ton?

There's a beer and a grateful thanks in it for you!

You can always get the USB cable for BMWhat. The BT adapter doesn't work on my car (May 2007 build) so I've ordered the cable.

Depends on what phone you're using doesn't it? Not 100% on this but I think I read somewhere the USB cable works for android users but not iPhone

Wow, thanks for the quick responses guys!

I have a iphone 5, and from what i've seen on the forums, iPhone + cable doesn't work, and due to build date, BT won't work. bloody technology. i prefer spanners.

the cars an aug 06 build i believe, apparently one of the first to enter the country according to previous owner, who owned it from new.

mmmm Maybe i'll delay sending it to the 'stealers' and try and get my hands on a cable or a local member!

magik77 Thanks for the offer, i may take you up on it in the near future, i'll pm you if i need, but thanks again!

(BTW if anyone had an iPhone 5/5s with battery issues, Apple has just started a recall where they replace the battery for free, check your serial number on apples webpages)

Im in bromley/beckenham if anyone happens to fly by with an app/cable at hand!

If you pass by grays, Essex I can read the codes for you.
It will be much more in detail than what bmwhat does.

I can recommend a garage in Norwood. Its a real mess of a place and could put you off at 1 glance but the guy there is good and will read your codes for 10. I have used him in the past for lots of stuff on my car and the mrs e46. He knows his stuff

Gaza that would be great, always good to know a good indy garage.

To add a little more drama to this , my dads mixed his keys up and buggered off on business for a week. so no car. so much for a catch up family meal before he flew off. lol.

On the flip side, that gives me some time to study up on solutions a bit more!

I have a horrible gut feeling that the waste gates maybe rattly, but that could be a) new parent style paranoia
b) simply an aged exhaust valve, as the noise seems to dissipate a bit once opened after warming up. But it seems to travel all the way up to the engine, or at least the downpipes. and a little bit of rattle when you put your foot down, but its right in the range of the valve's operation... hmmm. research more tomorrow.

On that note, mods, feel free to close this thread (if thats how it works here?), or maybe i can rename it into the start (poor start!!!) to my build thread?

Did you hear the cooling fan came on full blast?

I asume you didn't get engine too hot message

Most common of limp mode suddenly pop up in normal driving , no heavy throttle is injectors.

They were the culpits for mine. Worth asking previous owner if he had a recalled done.
