H&R Sport springs vs KW HAS Sleeve Kit
Looking to get one or the other for my F80 M3. Ruled out the Dinan springs at the moment otherwise I would jump on these. Spoke to an engineer directly at Dinan that stated M4 springs would finish development and be ready for shipment in roughly two months give or take, and probably two more months on top of that for the M3 springs. They currently have an M4 in the shop but not an M3.
So for now, I'm looking at the H&R Sport springs vs the KW sleeve kit. Between these two springs from what we know which are more similar to OEM in terms of design and spring rate? Looking for minimal drop in height, and minimal increase in spring rates. In other words, which have a more similar design to the OEM springs? |

I would think the H&R springs would be closer to OEM in design due to the fact the KW springs sit on adjustable sleeves and require the front perches to be swapped. As for spring rate, I don't believe KW has made that information available yet so we have to wait till later on this month when the kits are scheduled to be released.
I preordered the KW sleeve kit from IND and that should hold me over till the V3 kit is released. Having the capability to adjust the ride height to an even stance is priceless for me. Installing a set of static springs is pretty much cross your fingers and hope you like what you see. |

I also went ahead and preordered the KW springs from IND earlier today. Not worried about the different height with the spring perches, doesn't change the function of the spring much.

If the current gen M5/6 are an indicator, then the KW HAS kit is the closest to stock feel. They are progressive and very similar to stock ride quality. H&R are more bouncy.
If you want V3, they are only a couple of weeks later release than the HAS kit, so why buy twice? |

I think there would be very minor difference in benefits between this HAS offering and H&R springs. KW HAS still remains a spring kit, but with adjust ability. So benefits of a sleeve kit, but with downside of springs only. I don't really see the actual added value.
It could be useful to set the stance/gap the way you want, but other than that? If you want adjustable height, go coil-over. If a moderate lowering is what you want H&R should be fine. Super Sport may be too much for the stock shocks. |
