M Performance Muffler power increase?
So, do we have any dyno or other info on the M Performance Muffler on the M235i. If there is an increase, I'll add it, if it just for the sound then no thanks.
Looking for any data here. I've tried search here and using the google and nothing. |

Generally speaking the only exhaust mod that is going to make a difference in power is the downpipe. The cats are what restricts power. Everything else is just sound

If you need more power get down pipes, the exhaust is mostly for sound

Well, I got the M-Performance exhaust knowing it wasn't adding any HP and have zero regrets - it sounds so good. Ya know what? I would even get it again if it would slightly reduce HP

BimmerEngineer - I agree with your posts. I rarely fully tune any vehicle I have had. The greatest impacts were on turbo vehicles via the ECU such as the Abarth 500 I had in 2009-2011.
I also did extensive work on an 86 Lotus Turbo Esprit I had but that was quite expensive. I certainly will not add anything to my M235 as the significant cost of exhaust as an example, for sound, with very marginal improvement in performance is not worth the cost. Good post. |
