Navigation Questions
With Navigation, is there a setting to have the next street name and distance to have the next turn appear on the screen? For example, Turn left on Oak Street in 700 feet. I get the voice prompt but it would be nice to have it on the screen.
Also, the voice prompt tells me too much ahead of time to turn. It might say 'turn left ahead'...when there is a street coming up immediately on my left that I should not be turning left on and instead I should be turning left further farther up ahead. Can I change any setting to change that it is telling me too much in advance to turn? |

What I usually do is go to the nav menu and then go to route overview (after starting the trip). it'll show you all the steps of the routes next to the map and you can even select different parts of the route to see different parts of the map.
i still find it highly annoying that I have to go through all those steps to get it though. most every other car has the steps of the route next to the map by default Last edited by onatuesday; 09-10-2014 at 02:51 PM.. |

It should show you the next turn in the extended cluster area as you get close to the next step. Also you can do split screen and put that info on the other side of the screen.

With split screen displayed, what do I select in order to have the upcoming turn display on part of the screen? |

once you set split screen push the idrive to the right and then you should get some option to pick what you see in that screen.

If you use split screen, select arrow display. This will show the next street, the direction, and when coming up to complicated intersections, should also display a detailed map tracing the path intended. Hope this helps!

Thank you! I have been missing my Garmin so much but maybe it is because I do not know how to use the BMW Navigation to make the best use of it. I will try these things out to see if it helps me. I also do not like how it keeps saying bear left over and over again instead of turn left and tells me too far in advance confusing me.
I do like not having to set up my Garmin and then pack it up to hide. I will print out these directions and try it out on my next trip or maybe someone I know how to go anyway to get back at the BMW Navigation. I do love my car otherwise. |

I cannot get ridd of the info panel nav arrow.
If I push the turn signal button to go to the different info screens it always goes back to the arrow. How do I stop this? |

Try navigating to places you already know how to get to, like the grocery store, and get a sense of when Nav will tell you to turn relative to when you know you will be turning. That might help get you acclimated.
You could also visit a local BMW center, spend some time with their Genius going over the Nav display options and what will work best for you. |
