Has anyone tried burger tunings stage 1 module? It looks like it is very easy to install, and provides some nice gains for a very fair price! http://burgertuning.com/N55_Jb_BMW_P...nce_Tuner.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://<a href="http://burgertuning....Tuner.html</a>

Thanks in advance for any help!

There are a few people have used this unit and posted their results. Just filter through or do a search and you'll find them .

I just noticed you're in San Diego too - yay!

If you are going for a mellow mod, Stage 1 would be it.
Otherwise, I suggest to go with Stage 2.
If you don't mind driving up to my shop, I can help you out with setting it up.

I have used the BMS N55 Stage 1 and the Dinan Stage 1 tunes. Both are fairly easy to install. Now using the aFe Scorcher module (similar to the BMS but without the extra cables that don't get used anyway for Stage 1). So far, the aFe Scorcher has been a better unit for my Stage 1 needs. Smaller control box, idiot light to let you know it is connected correctly, extra 1 lb of boost over the BMS (as stated by MikeN54Tuning), and no extra unneeded wires to hide. If you buy both the intake and module together from aFe directly they give you a nice discount.

Being forced to run a boost setting that is too high for the technology used, not being able to adjust that boost level at all, and not being able to easily and inexpensively upgrade to a more powerful JB4 tune, could be considered drawbacks.

I sure will! Not too many of these cars in San Diego! Do you know any good tuner shops here?

Thanks. Any concerns about the dealers discovering it during services?

Thanks! I'm looking for something the dealers aren't going to detect easily. I'm comfortable with simple mods and hopefully getting another 40 HP or so

Where are you in So Cal?

Not the right place, there is a section for used parts in the classifieds. Dealers like ourselves have new ones available, which I recommend as you never know what you're getting used.
