some website...shes dorming at columbia, and came home for the break...as she was unpacking she took out her itouch and showed...i asked her where she got it from and she told me about the website...a bunch of her friends (8 altogether, i believe) completed the offers and she got the "prize...i was like wtf? i always thought that stuff was a scam...apparently not...im definitely giving it a shot...about to make an account!

and of you guys ever gotten anything free from one of the "incentive" sites??

It's easy for college students cause basically 1 dorm floor = everyone gets free ipods.

And seriously, who cares about spam mail in college? You're out in 4 years.

lol...maybe, i guess she just got a buncha friends to do it then cancel...thats pretty cool...i just found another that for every 2 offers you get a free game for the xbox 360...i think im gonna go with that one, seems much easier...i found a thread on another forum after googl'ing and it had almost 1600 responses and almost everyone who tried got something...more than once...ill post the link if you guys are interested

I know I did one of these things a few years ago and never quite got the prize, but after a year, they cashed me out and sent me $120 to my paypal for what I earned....I was pretty surprised

I goto slickdeals every day and check out their freebies and hot deals forums. While I haven't gotten anything big like an ipod or game system, so far I've gotten some small stuff like usb flash drives and a samsung lightscribe dvd burner for free. Sometimes though, the free stuff isn't really free, but it's basically manufacture's rebates, which aren't guaranteed to come through. I will never deal w/ rebates again, they're such a PITA.

Those websites for free games work, but in order to get the free games you have to complete offers, which means like signing up for a 30 day trial to say a coffee site that sends you coffee or w/e. The offers involve signing up for a trial, but after you get your free stuff, make sure you cancel those offers or after the 1st month or they'll start charging you. I remember I completed an offer once to try and get an ipod back in the day. It involved me signing up for a place called like Columbia House Music or something and I got to pick 8 cd's for a penny each or so. I forgot to cancel and after the 1st month, I had to pay a charge of 50 bucks.

Long story short, if you try those deals, just pay attention to which offers you complete and always remember to cancel them before your trial period runs out.

+1, Slickdeals is good. And those free things can be legit, but to much of a hassle for me.

I remember an article on CNN or something and a writer wanted to test all the pop ups of "Win XXX for FREE". He got something out of like 80% of the links he tried like a ipod, xbox360, flash drives, etc. The only downside is it can take upwards of 6 months before anything gets to you. He also warned of not forgetting to cancel the accounts after the trial periods end and most are a PITA to cancel, but ultimately worth it if you really do get the free item.

I got a 16gb iPod Touch for Christmas and this thing is insane, it might as well be a pocket computer. The browser, just the interface in general are so well done. It freaks me out how far technology has come.
