M Performance Stainless Steel Pedal Covers

Hi

I hope someone can help me with that

I ordered the "M Performance Stainless Steel Pedal Covers" from http://www.getbmwparts.com/ and brought them to my BMW dealer (Passport in MD) and they tell me that they cant mount them. They dont fit ..

See attachment. I have DCT but I was told that you just leave one pedal which would be for the clutch ..

I think they are BSing you. Just leave the Pedal for the clutch and they SHOULD fit. They might just not want to do the work for you. I plan to do this mod later this week. I will keep you posted on this.

I bet if you ordered the pedals from your dealer, they would get the same exact ones but they would magically fit.

That is correct set. I installed it on mine.
I didn't use clutch pedal cover.

On M3, acceleration and brake pedal for both DCT and manual transmissions are same size.

+1 manual pedals for DCT. This isn't that difficult of a DIY if you are handy with a drill.

Yes, you use the same pedal set BMW PN whether you have 6M or DCT. I learned that the hard way.

With DCT you simply don't use the clutch pedal cover.

I have a cheap electric drill and a set of Dewalt titanium bits. Install was a piece of cake.

nope.

if he has DCT (or manual), the Automatic pedal for the break is too big and wont fit. I exchanged mine twice with bmwparts because they kept sending me the "automatic" version and it would not fit (too big).

the pedal on the DCT cars is just like the manual one in size, so you basically have to get the manual version and it will fit.

TS,
the above should fit fine. They are BSing you.

You mean your seat doesn't look exactly like that?

In addition to my favorite toy, the M4 is also my daily driver and I drive it the gym as well. So I installed one of these black slip-on covers on the driver's seat only to protect the leather from my sweat after gym and abrasion especially from jeans.

Just thinking about keeping it nice for when I trade it in after 2-3 years for the next best thing I decide I have to have.

In Oct 2013 I bought a 2014 GT500, tuned it up to 700whp, added some other suspension and cosmetic mods, and then got tired of it after 1.5 yrs and bought the M4. I kept the Shelby looking brand new and was able to great trade-in $ because of that. Just doing the same here. I will say the driver's side seat is the thing in my car that gets the most abuse as a daily driver. Just my sweaty self after the gym and all the sliding in and out daily on the soft leather.

Here is a link to the covers. Super cheap, plus you get two so instant backup. With black leather, and the way the covers fit the performance seats so well, you don't even notice the cover is there from outside the car. Apparently it's quite obvious up close though.

Grip is great. I think it's a non-topic. Rubber comes through the slits you see in the plate design, plus a good chunk of the break pedal is still all rubber since the plate does not go over the entire thing.

Stop making fun of my cheap seat cover!

Thanks, great they look very nice. I guess you have some good reasons for the nice cover and it's unique...

Interestingly, I would have installed the other aluminum cover over the brake pedal.

It is usually the bottom right portion of the brake pedal that gets worn faster due to the switch between brake and throttle. This is worse on MT cars due to the effect of heel-and-toe. I think it would have made more sense to have the bottom right portion of the rubber covered with aluminum. Anyway, just my humble opinion .

So basically you are saying that the VDC installed mine incorrectly?

If you look how they are wrapped in the box, it suggests that they should be installed the other way around. Not sure it is even possible though. Is there an installation guide that comes with the pedals?

As I mentioned, mine were installed at the VDC, so I do not know if an installation guide comes with them.
