GOT CEL and limp mode every time i get on boost.

Hey Guys,

This just started happening yesterday. Havent done anything to the user TQ setting nothing.. All i have on my car is our exhaust and The V2.02. I check all the cables to see if anything came loose. When you start the car, it takes forever to turn over. When you accelerate and begin to go on boost the car starts to shake in a way and goes on limp mode/CEL and sounds like one of the cylinders shuts down.. I quickly turn the car off.. Once i turn it back on its back to normal (until i try to go back into boost or get close to 3k RPS. Same thing happens again. I have had V2.02 ever since it came out and no problems.
I dont really drive my car hard at all... Not sure what went wrong by itself. Please let me know if someone can relate to this or any ideas

sounds like high pressure fuel pump failure, but I could be wrong.
Mine failed almost exactly in the fashion you have described... although i was stock

first step is to return the car to stock or bypass plugs, and see if you an re-produce it

did u open up the ecu to check if your wiring is loose!! I would first check that to see if thats the problem

oh i see you already checked the wires, then its does sound like the fuel pump

Sure you thought of this, but I would disconnect and see if the engine does this without Procede. Could be any of several problems, DI, stuck diverter, even the dreaded HPFP.

nice. I whish i had the Bypass plugs to try but i never got them with my proceed.

You have to completely unistall the procede then... thats really the only next logical step... considering that even if you find the problem, you will most likely be going to the dealer.

If it was the fuel pump, would it still have a delay in ignition like i do every time? it is very similar as if i downloaded a corrupted file into my proceed, but i did not download anything

the first sign of failing high pressure pump is extended cranking before ignition according to the TSB from bmw

Mine did that...

The only other thing I can think of is that possibly your o2 sensors got crossed during the exhaust install, but that wouldnt neccesarily cause long cranks... in the past, on this car, long cranks is either a wiring problem from procede or hpfp failure from what I have seen

as soon as I hooked up my V2, it started doing exactly this. Each and every time. I opened the hood, found that a wire had come loose. Reconnected, and everything worked as it should.

+1 Mine started with long crank, then shake during acceleration..

Remove the Procede to check if symptom still exist. If it the FP then your the dealer will repair it within a day

Scalbert's car did this, or something like it, and while we both thought it was the fuel pump, it turned out to be something else that was fixable. However, i can't remember what he said it turned out to be, so you may want to PM him.

definitely sounds like the fuel pump. for some reason ive been replacing these alot lately. if you have a code reader see if you have fuel pressure on release of injection faults or misfires,dead giveaway,but as per the bmw sib they will try and update your car first before installing the pump. most likely it wont help and youll get a new hpfp. gl.
